Nope, it's not working for me. I'm missing something. I can't figure out how to put ceiling tiles on the underside of frieze, so I just keep raising and lowering the level of the roof. I extended the roof and added ceiling tiles on the extension and I played with changing the slope on the end pieces and putting them back. At one point I had a roof like the Elf Express. At another I had the "horns." At another I had a mini gable look in the middle. I can not get all the floating tiles to go away and stay gone. I moved out my all-in-ones. I put them back. I took out the ceiling lights I had in them. I made sure MOO was off.
Check and see if all your floating tiles are gone. Then go into edit town and back again (after turning off all the cheats). Are still all gone for you?
