Have you played your world with alot of family's yet? I always test worlds on population and I noticed that most big worlds have lag when I put more then 20 family's in houses. I hope that yours doesn't have that problem.
DutchySim, I tested the world starting with just one sims family and let story progression add up to a max of 14 families into town and I didn`t experience lag. I did have a problem earlier in testing but I think that was to do with placing a sim on an offshore island cabin where services could not reach. I started a new game, set that cabin lot as community (sub lot `No visitors allowed`) and the lag disappeared.
One of the reasons I was hesitant to add too many lots was exactly the problem with lag you have mentioned. I noticed that since the last patch there was more of an occasional lag in Sunset Valley and have seen it mentioned here on the forums. I suppose time will tell.
