Well I got my Sims all settled in. I am starting off playing one of my favorite teenagers, primarily. A boy, the son of Riverview's hardened criminal Rhoda Bagley and her husband, Riverview Rockstar Jon Lessen. They are terrible negligent self absorbed parents, and Sean's a nice kid like his uncle Sherman. It's a fun perspective to play. I put them up in one of the wooded cabins with the backstory that they've moved out of the city in hopes of calming their son down a bit. But I've been having a blast having Sean break curfew night after night, sneaking into town! I must say it's been fun playing a juvenile delinquent!
I did temporarily take out the school so all that I'll be able to "skill up" all the kids without pressure from the school schedule. This is something I was working on in Anju Falls, too. It feels a bit weird to be doing that here in a more modern setting but the scenery is so spectacular I can't lock Sean up in school all day! The boy is building up some serious fishing skill!
I've been playing this slacker lifestyle in the town for about four full Sim days now. So far no lag has crept in. Usually I do start seeing lag by now in other worlds. It may still creep in, we'll have to see. Regina's given me a plausible explanation, though, for the lag and I can always try a mod to work it out if I see it creep into this world.
I really enjoyed adding my pre-existing lots to the town. They fit in very well. There is definitely lots of room left to reconfigure and customize the town. I'll be quite busy building into it and putting my own stamp into it.
At some point in the next few days I'll try the career buildings and test those. I don't anticipate any problems but of course will report any if you are interested in hearing about them and fixing any that might occur.
I've already had that poor kid jog over a good portion of the island and frankly was impressed how well the routing worked. Based on what's happened to my sims even in EA made regions, I was fully expecting my sim to get stuck or take oddball routes over in the backwoods area of the map when I sent him from the park at the top of the waterfall to the lower one...but he didn't. He routed just fine on foot going from the top down to a lower point of access to the other park at the end of the waterfall. It wasn't a super direct route but it wasn't a bizarre unrealistic one, either. The amount of oversight you must have put into this project just boggles my mind!
p.s. The buildings and houses are really nice, too! It's rare that I can come in and just play without making my own alterations here and there.
