Diskette66, I really don`t know if a previous saved game will work in a new game/new world. It`s personally something I`ve never tried so can`t say whether it works or not.
What I will say though is that I`ve always found it better to start with an entirely new sim in a new world (ie one created in CAS), although that may be just a personal issue with my own world? It`s so tough to gauge whether any particular issues you may experience are issues to do with your game or with anything extraneous which may be a result of an extra detail here or there?
I have to say, the Saskan Harbour update is a really, really slight one and not a great deal of difference.
Diskette66, If I were you I would search around for a reply regarding whether previous saved games can be added to new games as I really can`t reassure you that it would be as simple as your suggested method.
Still, on a personal level it`s nice to know that you hadn`t forgotten about Saskan Harbour. You have allowed me to go to bed with a smile, it`s very late here in Scotland.
