I`ve just tried out a sim with the angler trait (level six) at the same place you mentioned, upon clicking on Inspect Water the sim found out that the area was not good for fishing and to try somewhere else. He could still catch anchovy, jellyfish, tuna, salmon, tragic clownfish, red herring and an unknown (as yet) fish type. I clicked on a beach further along the coast (where I knew fishing spawners were) and clicked on Inspect Water again and still it said "There aren`t many fish here. Try looking where fish are swimming". Fish can quite clearly be seen jumping out of the water in the sea fishing spots previously mentioned.
I don`t know if it`s an issue with my world or something that only sims with the angler trait seem to suffer or even a glitch with Sims 3 itself? I don`t recall this happening during testing and I didn`t alter where the sea fishing spawner spots were when I updated Saskan Harbour. I`m stumped again.
I`m going to try fishing with a sim without the angler trait to see if it`s just an angler trait issue?
Maybe my sea fish spawning spots are too far off the coast? I never thought that would be a problem as I know sim anglers can cast out quite a distance. Here`s a CAW shot of the exact position of the two Lighthouse Point fish spawning spots. You can see in the pic the lot by the lighthouse and it`s lack of any spawners.
