"I need everyone in the kitchen for a family meeting."
Jack Bunch gathered up his entire family. Ethen. Lisa. Arlo. Darlene. And wife Judy.
"Listen up, family," Jack said. "I have been doing a lot of thinking. No, this is not some midlife crisis. This is me trying to set an example for all of you. Ethan. Lisa. You are teenagers. Soon, you will be young adults. You will have a lifetime wish. I want you to pursue that lifetime wish. Something I never did."
The stout career military man looked at his children.
"My lifetime wish was never to be a career military man. It was actually to become a superstar athlete. A path I never followed. Until now."
He could still see the confusion on their faces.
"I've left the military."
All four of his children gasped loudly.
"I gave Erin Kennedy my resignation. I went down to the stadium, met up with Toddler Sports Coach Leighton Sekemoto. And I have joined the Athletic Career. It may be too late for me to ever reach my lifetime wish. But, I am going to chase that dream anyways. Just to show all of you to chase yours."
They all sat in stunned silence.
"That is all. This meeting is adjourned."
