There really never should have been any doubt about what I would do when I “grew up.”

Ever since I was a little girl, the preparation for going back to school has always been a time I enjoyed. From the new pair of shoes, to finding my school supply list taped on the large windows of my school, I secretly loved it all. My mom probably helped in this attitude, with her chant of “Paper, and scissors, and glue!" that she would sing each year as we pushed the cart through the crowded store aisles. It was a little disappointing when I reached that age when crayons were no longer on the list, but Mom always let me get them anyway (we still enjoy a good coloring session from time to time even now!).

Today, I still find myself excited at the prospect of another beginning: another year, another learning experience. It is funny that as an adult, I still spend most of my days at school. But how appropriate. I have always enjoyed learning, and I can think of no better profession than teaching for that! Sure, 6 a.m. will be awfully early those first few weeks, but the buzz that fills the halls on those early mornings is always a little bit of a thrill. Even the fashion show that seems to occupy that first week as students show off all their new threads is something I look forward to. The lively conversations as students and teachers alike share their summer experiences make me smile.

It’s a little difficult to leave the freedom of summer behind, but there’s something about the fall that makes that move easier. The crisp air at a Friday night football game, the crunch of the leaves under my feet as I walk into the building, the friendly, familiar faces that greet me each day.

It’s time to go back to school.

This week, Build-n-Share will celebrate what will be life for many in the coming weeks. In many parts of the world, the school year is just beginning(sorry, Mmyoko, but think of us once you are out and on break!). To explore the thrill of back-to-school season together, we’re going to reconstruct some famous schools. Think back to a favorite TV show, movie, book, or song about school. Your mission this week is to recreate it as best as you can.

In your final entry, you should include two pictures. One is of the school you have recreated, sim-style, and the other is your creation. Pick the shot that best replicates the original to show off your work. You may include your pics in your entry form this week, but only two! Please continue to include additional pics on our picture thread and in your stories to your heart’s content. It is important that you resize your photos. If you already know how to do this, please use the procedure you normally follow. If you do not, please follow the instructions below, created by Build-n-Share member, Gheez. And if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

As a side challenge this week, we will do something much like we did in Week One of the challenge. Because there is no particular client this time, you may create your own…these should be the students and staff of that school you have created! Both your build and your sims (please create them as a single household and not as part of the build) will receive a rec this week. Only the lot will be judged, for the sanity of our judges, but the sims are sure to get a lot of recognition as well. And for the ultra-creative, a story featuring both the cast and the school will receive an additional rec.

*A note: If you plan to include a cafeteria and want to have a stove, you will need to zone your school as residential. This is fine, just please note this in your final entry form, so our judges know in which bin to look for your creation.*
