Build-n-Share Challenge # 15 - The Refugees' Aqua Wonderland

This Week’s Challenge Specifics:
The Refugee family, though in the news a lot lately, are still an amazing sight to see. Zena and Zenith take a seat across from you. As Zena begins to speak, you notice Zach digging into the toy box placed in the corner of your office for just such clients. His "sister," Zazy, sits quietly reading a book on the couch across the room.
“I want to thank you so much again for meeting with us,” Zena says. “We have some very unique needs, as you know, so we hope this build will be an interesting challenge for you and perhaps a fun break from the norm.”
She takes a sip from her water bottle, something they’re all carrying, you notice, before she begins again.
“Well, the most important thing is obviously water. Lots and lots of water. We’d like pools and ponds throughout the home. And if each room could also have its own bath with a shower and tub, that would be helpful. Zenith and I will share, so we only need three rooms. We’d like to give Zazy and Zach each their own space. They are pretty different, you might have noticed.”
Zach is making laser sounds as he wiggles the toy rocket through the air. Zazy is still looking at the book; you wonder if she is truly reading or trying to hear the conversation at-hand.
“Zach…Phew, Zach. He’s a handful. His room should be a lot of fun. Zazy, well, it’s been hard on her. I’d really like something special for her,” Zena continues.
Zenith chimes in, “We would really like shades of blue as a predominant theme throughout the home. We’re looking for a sort of aqua wonderland. A build that is perhaps a bit more like fantasy would be a bonus. I think Zazy and Zach would really like that.”
“How about for the two of you? Any special requests?” you ask.
“Well,” Zena says, and despite the protective glasses, you think you might detect a twinkle in those eyes. “I really would like to start collecting fish here to keep as pets. I would love to have a room dedicated to serving as an aquarium.”
“Oh, I might have some ideas already…how about you, Zenith?”
But Zenith has noticed that Zach is starting to get a little restless. She just smiles before going to join him for playtime on the carpet.
“She won’t give you anything,” Zena says after a pause for water. “But as a teen, I’m sure she’d like an area to entertain new friends. A rec room with a focus on activities teens might enjoy. She’s pretty mature for her age, you know. She has to be, with what we all went through. And to just inherit two younger siblings of sorts, well, that can’t have been easy either.”
“I can’t imagine. And I know that it must be tough on you as well. I’ll work to make sure your wonderland is everything you hope it could be. I’m just honored you selected me for the project!”
“We never want to forget our past. We each have a symbol we wear most of the time to remind us of the land we lost. But we’re ready to move on, too. We’ve worked hard to get Zazy and Zach adjusted. Trying to help them blend in as much as is possible…Zenith and I, we’re pretty comfortable in our own skin. Literally.” She laughs, trying to make the mood light again.
“If you want a side project, though, I think Zenith and I might both be ready for a makeover. Something that would still be a bit unique, but maybe a little more like what girls our age here wear. I think the boys here have a hard time with Zenith’s confidence, and, well, I think Zach might wish we would try to blend in a bit more when we’re in public.”
Zenith comes back over with Zach in-tow. “I think we’re about ready,” she says. It’s clear that “we” means “Zach.”
“Well, I’ll give you a call if I have any questions. And I’ll see you again soon!”
The four head out, raising their umbrellas high against the blazing afternoon sun.
Budget:
Unlimited!!! Not a frequent thing for me. Enjoy it. The public has followed the Refugees' story carefully, and many generous community members have contributed to the funds to build their dream home.
