We offer different levels of experience, and those who enter receive (at the very least, because it's usually many more) one rec and a download for your work. At the end of the challenge, winners are posted within a week and every entrant receives feedback on his or her work at the winner's circle thread. In the posts below, you will find all the information and links related to each challenge. Build-n-Share Weekly Challenge #55 - I have a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore... Thread for this week’s challenge: http://forum.thesims3.com/jforum/posts/list/265588.page This Week’s Challenge Specifics: So while we’re in the mood for movies, I thought I would issue a challenge I have wanted to try myself for quite some time. It is based on a classic movie I have seen a countless number of times. And now I hope all of you will try your hand at recreating this classic home and scene from The Wizard of Oz. For those who are unfamiliar with the movie, or even those who do know it, I have included two You Tube links for inspiration. The challenge comes in two forms for this week’s contest: 1. To recreate (as nearly as possible from the shots you see in the videos) the home and Munchkinland, where the home lands. 2. And the biggie...To design the home in “black and white,” just like it is in the movie, and Munchkinland in all its Technicolor splendor. As a tip, keep in mind that black and white movies contain muted grays more than harsh black and white hues. Consider material as well. Metals will probably be too reflective a texture, while fabrics might give the softer look you need. And those are the directions. Make Munchkinland as vast as you like, or more compact if time is short. But be sure to capture the essence of the colorless home in the midst of a vibrantly colored outside world. Please note that photo effects to create the appropriate colors is not allowed. Your build must truly be black and white in-game. My suggestion is to build just the home first and save it to the library. Then continue building on the original lot to add the rest of the grounds. The second lot is the home in Munchkinland. If you saved to the library, you already have the home itself built, now you can just redecorate the outside to reflect her arrival "somewhere over the rainbow." AS A SIDENOTE: I have been considering writing a playing challenge based on The Wizard of Oz for awhile now. Down the road, if I decide to do this (I'll need to do some playtesting first), I would like to be able to use one or two of these lots. If you are OK with that, please note it on your official entry form. I will most likely select one build with cc and one lot without cc. The next day, Rose knocks on your door and shows in Fatima and Vadim Simovitch and their daughter, Betty. "Good morning!," you greet the family. "I've been looking over your requests, and I've come up with some great design ideas for your home. It sounds like your looking to update and modernize things which I can definitely take care of. Can you tell me a little more about what you want? Are we doing a tear-down and new build or renovating the existing house?" "Well, you're the expert," replies Vadim. We don't really have a preference. You can knock it all down, add windows, add walls, whatever you think is best." "Excellent! I notice that each of your favorite colors are green, pink, and white. I'll try to work those in as accent colors. Do you have any other requests?" "Well, I do like animal prints," remarks Fatima. You notice Betty roll her eyes and suppress the smile that comes to your lips. "I can certainly try to work that into the design somehow. Perhaps in the master suite? In a tasteful way, of course," you add to appease Betty. "And I really want a gourmet kitchen," sighs Vadim. "I love to cook for the family. It's a hobby of mine, and our current kitchen leaves a bit to be desired." "I'm so tired of how boxed off our dining and kitchen areas are," adds Fatima. If I'm in the kitchen, I can't see or talk to someone in the living room. I love how open and breezy new homes are. Can you make our house more like that?" Build-n-Share Challenge #168 - The NovelistChallenge Deadline: Friday 31st of July, Midnight CMT.“Jade! How lovely to see you!” You exclaim. Going to the grocery store is always fun for you. You run into everyone at sometime or other it seems. In this case, its literally. “Sorry for bumping your cart.”“Its okay,” ‘Jade’ smiles at you with lips painted wine red. “However you have the wrong sister.” You step back, studying her. Emerald green eyes glitter in amusement at you, a deeper warmer look than Jade’s pale green business like stare. Instead of being pulled stylishly but efficiently back from her face, the sister’s raven hair curls romantically around her face and over her shoulders. Her dress, made of a rich burgundy velvet, is casually and elegantly gothic in style. Otherwise, she’s identical to Jade Bloodclaw.“I’m sorry,” you say sheepishly.“Not at all. Being identical twins, it happens all the time.” She moves her cart to the side ot let someone else get by. “My name is Fire Bloodclaw.”You shake hands with her, introducing yourself. Then a light bulb blinks on. “Fire Bloodclaw? The novelist? The one who wrote Empire of Jade?”She laughs a sensual laugh, “The same. You’ve read it?”“I haven’t. My assistant however raved about it. Also, she likes old-fashioned things, like riding a bike and drying her clothes on the line outside. The second because what is more private then a private island and the third was that I had just watched a waterfall tutorial on YouTube and I really wanted to try it out. To that end I wanted to build something simple because Fire doesn't want the hassle of a complicated home upkeep and I wanted something a bit eclectic, but still cozy and tasteful because to me all authors are a bit on the fringe and always thinking creatively, seeing things for what they could be and not necessarily what they are. The library's decorations were kept to a minimum to reduce distractions (If you can ignore that view) in case Fire wanted to do some serious binge writing and almost every room has somewhere to sit in case she decides to take her laptop on the road. Build-n-Share Challenge # 1 – Building Firm and Representative This Week’s Challenge Specifics: This week’s challenge actually consists of two projects. Creating a sim and creating a lot. You may enter just the lot or both of the challenges. Winners will be announced for each, creating an opportunity for six possible winners this week. The Sim: Create a representative for your building firm. This may be a “simself” or a pretty face for the public. Your sim may be uploaded with the lot or separately (from the sim bin). The Lot: Create your building firm. It can be a community lot or “home business.” It can be as big or small as you want on whichever size lot works best for you. You may also choose the style of your building (ie. ultra-modern, country, etc). Also create a name for your firm. This is the name we will associate with you and all of your builds in the Build-n-Share challenges. You should include this name in the description of your lot when you upload it to The Exchange. “This seems to be our week for Italians,” Rose says as you enter the studio to begin the day’s work.

“Another Italian client?” you ask with surprise.

“I suppose it’s our Mediterranean climate!” Rose giggles.

You try to suppress your own giggle and ask, “What time is Signor…”

“Vivaldi,” Rose interjects.

“What time is Signore Vivaldi’s appointment?”

“He’s waiting for you now in your office.”

“Ack!” you say out loud while looking darts at Rose, who is studiously ignoring you.

As you enter your office, you see a man with shockingly red hair seated in your chair, humming a jovial tune that somehow seems familiar. He gets up immediately and moves toward you to shake your hand.

“Ah, how delightful it is to finally meet the great designer!”

“Um, thank you, signore…”

“Please! Call me Tony.”

“Yes, Tony. What can I do for you?”

You learn that Tony Vivaldi is the new music teacher at the local high school and has come to Sunset Valley from Venice, Italy with his two twin teenage daughters, Cara and Rufina. They are currently living in the Modern Apartments and want to move into a 2-bedroom house of their own. He has two main requirements:

“Both my daughters play the instruments,” he tells you, “so please include the room for music so we play together. Yes?”

“Of course, uh, Tony. What else?”

“I like the seasons. Yes?”

“Seasons?”

“Eum, inverno, winter? Spring? Yes?”

“Yes, of course! But what are your thoughts about the seasons?”

“The decoration? How you say…”

“You want the décor to reflect the seasons?”

“Yes, yes! But just one!”

“Just one season? But which one?”

“You pick!”

You protest, but he insists that you choose for him. So after discussion of budget and other details, you finish your meeting. As he is about to leave, you finally get the courage to ask him, “Tony, by any chance are you related to…”

“The typeface designer?” he laughs. “Ah no, but peoples ask me this all the time!” He leaves humming that strangely familiar tune.

Requirements

• Budget: §73,000
• Lot (Sunset Valley): any size the budget allows
• 2 bedrooms (one for Tony, one for Cara and Rufina), 2.5 bathrooms, music room (with at least 2 instruments) and all other rooms necessary for convenient living
• garage or carport
• landscaping and interior décor should reflect one of the four seasons (spring, summer, autumn or winter). In your description of the lot details, explain how you chose your color scheme to reflect the season.

Constructive criticism: The project came in under budget. Perhaps more high end features and furnishings could have been used. However, Tony and his daughters will be pleased to have the extra cash in their pockets and likely will recommend my services to their friends.

Constructive criticism: Yes, please. I am aware of the lack of landscaping, but it was difficult to find items that fit the snowy terrain. I did find some and installed them in my game, but then could not find them in game. I probably should have added some more interior decoration as well, but as I was building it, I kept running into the budget limit. I forgot export the finished house before I moved the family in, so I removed the family after taking screencaps and a little under §5,000 of the budget magically became available. Oh well.

“Your three o'clock has cancelled. Mrs. Litter went into labor and was rushed to the hospital!" Rose states as she sticks her head into your office. "But you have a new client waiting outside so no taking a nap on that new sofa!"

As you slip your shoes back on your feet, you think how does Rose know you so well?!

Just then you hear a faint knock at your door. "Come in" you respond. In the door looking timid, comes Iqbal Alvi. You motion for him to take a seat in one of the chairs at your desk.

"What may I help you with Mr. Alvi?" you ask.

"I need a new home desperately!" responds Mr. Alvi. "I think it may be the last resort to save my family, especially my relationship with my son, VJ."

You think to yourself that VJ Alvi is already on the road to trouble, as Mr. Alvi continues." I recently won a fair amount in the annual Simansims Lottery and I am taking my boys on a two week journey to Egypt."

As he continues he talks about what he would like in a new home but you have to stop him at a certain point to ask," You do not mind the style of home in the least?" As he responds," No, whatever you come up with is fine!"

As he leaves you really hope that this new home will help this poor man mend fences with his eldest son. You watch him leave as if he is carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders.

Requirements

• Budget: §87,000
• Lot (Sunset Valley): 43 Water Lily Lane or any 30X20 lot.
• 2 bedrooms (one for Iqbal and one for VJ and Miraj to share), 1 to 3 bathrooms (your choice as to the number), a specialty room for family togetherness (this can be a media room, game room, gym, etc.) and all other rooms necessary for convenient living. Exterior should have an area for all family members to enjoy as well.
• Garage or carport or parking spaces for two vehicles
• Interior decor should be very colorful just like the current Alvi home but tasteful and cohesive.

Build-n-Share Challenge #141-142 • A Cottage in the Woods

Another happy client. You smile to yourself as you think of the Alvi family settling into their new home, and, hopefully, beginning to mend some fences.

Rose opens the door to your office and hands you a file with a slight frown on her face. “Mr. Potfill will be here to see you any moment.”

“Thanks, Rose. Why the frown?”

“Well, I’ve only spoken to Mr. Potfill on the phone. He travels quite extensively and hasn’t been able to come in to meet with me to get his preliminary information. I just get a kind of odd vibe from him.”

“Odd?” you ask.

“Well, I should say some of his requests sound a bit odd. He seems perfectly nice, if a bit eccentric.”

“Oh dear,” you think to yourself. “Another odd client….we certainly seem to get our share of those around here.”

You both hear the sound of the front door opening. “Here he is now! I’ll show him right in.” Rose rushes off to greet the new client.

Soon, you are sitting across the desk from Eamon Potfill. An older gentleman with a slight build, Eamon’s bright green eyes seem to sparkle with excitement. He begins to speak, and you are struck by his charming speech with just the slightest hint of an accent that you can’t quite place.

“Good morning, lass, “says Eamon. “I do hope I’ve chosen wisely by putting my trust in you for this job. Although I’m usually quite lucky in business, I have to admit that I was burned quite badly by the last dealing I had.”

“Of course, Mr. Potfill,” you answer. “Our firm has quite an extensive history of dealing with all sorts of clients, and I can assure you that they have all been very happy with our work. We never disappoint.”

“That’s excellent news, dearie. I have a bit of an unusual request for you.”

“Oh, we specialize in the unusual,” you chuckle, thinking of some of your more, ehm… eccentric clients over the years.

“Good to know, good to know.” Eamon leans forward, eyes bright. “I’ll be wanting a rather secluded hideaway, away from prying eyes, you know.”

“Well, we can definitely make that happen,” you assure the client. “Just how secluded are you thinking?”
“It must definitely be off the beaten path. I don’t appreciate people just wandering by. And I do love the outdoors, so something in a forest setting would be ideal. Just one bedroom and bath will be fine. I don’t have many visitors. At least I don’t intend to…especially after that last one.” Mr. Potfill trails off, looking a bit irritated.

“Okay, a small cottage, one bedroom, one bath. Secluded forest setting,” you repeat, scrawling notes in the file. “Do you have any other requirements?”

“Just one more thing.” Eamon Potfill lowers his voice and glances around as if he thinks there may be someone listening in. “I’ll be needing a secret room,” he whispers.

“A secret room?” you whisper back.

“Yes. For my treasures,” Eamon explains.

“Alrighty then,” you think to yourself, suddenly understanding Rose’s odd feeling about this unusual, little man. Aloud you say, “Secret treasure room, check” and add it to the growing list in the file.

The conversation continues for a few more minutes as you clarify the client’s requests and settle on a budget for the job. “This all seems pretty straightforward,” you announce as the conversation comes to a close. “We can have this ready for you in about two weeks.”

“That’s super, lass!” Eamon enthuses. “I’m off on a bit of a trip tomorrow, and it will be done when I get return. Perfect timing.”

Optional Challenge: Provided sleeping bags and a fire pit in the back yard so Eamon Potfill can toast shamrock marshmallows and sleep under the stars. Also provided some recreational activities inside the cottage.
Constructive criticism: I wanted to put in more trees around the house however they interfere with getting good photos of the outside of the house.

Optional Challenge: I wasn't sure what was expected for the optional challenge, so I just built.
Constructive criticism: I'm not sure what you count as a 'wooded' lot. I tend to put 2-3 trees on my lots, and doubled it for this client. I also chose larger trees but did not pack a ton of them into my small lot. I interpreted secluded as build it away from down town, so part of that in my mind is based upon lot placement not design of the lot. In my own world I added a 20X30 lot and placed it way out in the boondocks. Also... My living room wall pattern does not show up in the photos... I tried and tried to get one that would show it... but its still kinda hard to tell. As always I welcome any criticism.

Build-n-Share Challenge #143-144 • Icy Hot

You are just returning from your lunch break, the fried onion rings from Hogan’s sitting uneasily in your stomach. (“Next time I’ll get the autumn salad!” you think.) Rose, standing at the open door to your office, is uncharacteristically chatting up your 2 o’clock appointment, whom you can’t yet quite see. Rose’s face is flushed, and—is she fluttering her eyelashes?

“Rose! Is Mr. Jökulsson here then?” you say loudly. Rose, taken aback, replies, “I was just offering him something to drink.”

“Great! Would you kindly bring me a glass of my Gerolsteiner water with whatever Mr. Jökulsson wants?”

As you enter your office, you can see what has Rose all hot and bothered. Waiting to shake your hand is an exceptionally handsome man with a full head of white blond hair and neatly trimmed beard wearing an impeccably tailored light gray suit. But what you really find startling are his icy blue eyes, which seem to pierce right through you. The warm smile on his lips brings you back to the matter at hand.

“Mr. Jökulsson, it is so nice to meet you! I do believe you are our first Icelandic client. What brings you here to Sunset Valley?”

“Please call me Finn,” he says in perfect English.

You have, for once, read the client dossier before his arrival. You know that Finnur Jökulsson is the owner/CEO of Jarðhiti Fyrirtæki or Geothermal Company and is here to set up a geothermal plant in Sunset Valley.

“I will be here for a least five years,” he explains, “and I need a house to live in as well as entertain business associates.”

Just then, Rose enters with the drinks. Basking in Mr. Jökulsson’s warm smile, she asks “Is there anything else I can get you?”

“That will be all, Rose!” you say kindly but insistently.

“So, Mr. uh, Finn, can you tell me what sort of house you’d like?”

He hands you a thick notebook full of blue prints, fabric and paint swatches. Laughing, he says, “In my business, you have to be detailed! I think you can see I have thought about this a lot.”

“You seem to have an ultra modern sensibility,” you remark as you page through the notebook. “Do you want an all white interior?”

“No, no! I love natural wood as well as the clean look of white. And here are some accent colors I like.” He shows you some color swatches in the notebook.

You continue the discussion, although his notebook seems to have in it everything he wants (and in more detail than any client you’ve ever had!). When you finally get around to the sensitive subject of budget, he becomes unusually sheepish. “I’m afraid I can only spend §250,000 on the house. I hope you can make that work.”

As you pull your eyes back into your head, you say, “Yes, I’m sure I can make it work. I think I have the perfect lot for you, too.” You step out of your office to say to Rose, “Will you show Mr. Jökulsson out? Oh, and would you kindly answer any questions he might have about Sunset Valley?” Before the words have left your lips, Rose is in the office helping him to the door.

Build-n-Share Challenge #145-146 • The Simovitch Struggle

The office is slammed, and Rose slaps a folder on your desk. "Uhm...," you start to say, but Rose cuts you off.

"No time," she says. Look this over, and I'll get the details to you tomorrow." With no other choice as she breezes out the door on the way to other important business, you open the folder and and get to work...

The next day, Rose knocks on your door and shows in Fatima and Vadim Simovitch and their daughter, Betty. "Good morning!," you greet the family. "I've been looking over your requests, and I've come up with some great design ideas for your home. It sounds like your looking to update and modernize things which I can definitely take care of. Can you tell me a little more about what you want? Are we doing a tear-down and new build or renovating the existing house?"

"Well, you're the expert," replies Vadim. We don't really have a preference. You can knock it all down, add windows, add walls, whatever you think is best."

"Excellent! I notice that each of your favorite colors are green, pink, and white. I'll try to work those in as accent colors. Do you have any other requests?"

"Well, I do like animal prints," remarks Fatima. You notice Betty roll her eyes and suppress the smile that comes to your lips.

"I can certainly try to work that into the design somehow. Perhaps in the master suite? In a tasteful way, of course," you add to appease Betty.

"And I really want a gourmet kitchen," sighs Vadim. "I love to cook for the family. It's a hobby of mine, and our current kitchen leaves a bit to be desired."

"I'm so tired of how boxed off our dining and kitchen areas are," adds Fatima. If I'm in the kitchen, I can't see or talk to someone in the living room. I love how open and breezy new homes are. Can you make our house more like that?"

"Of course," you affirm, adding "custom kitchen" and "open concept" to your list. "And what would you like for your room, Betty?" you ask.

Vadim interrupts, "Well, Betty is going to be a scientist when she grows up, just like her dad. She'll need a desk for studying and a work area for her science experiments."

"No," contradicts Fatima. "Betty is a gifted musician. She's going to be a pop star. I was in a band when I was young, you know. Betty takes after me musically."

You look at Betty who seems a bit embarrassed by her parents. You make a mental note to talk to her privately when you get a chance to find out what she really wants.

"Alright, thanks so much for coming in. We'll have your brand new dream home ready for you in two weeks," you say as you escort the Simovitch family to the door. "I look forward to working with you."

And so starts another challenging project...

• They would like the landscaping to be updated as well.
• A pool would be nice if it fits in the budget.
• Betty's room should reflect her personality. Is she a budding scientist or a future pop star? Or something completely different from what her parents want for her?

Calling all designers! It is that time again! Time to let your style truly shine and compete in the Spring Designer Showdown! If you are a veteran of BnS, you should already be quite familiar with these design challenges. The challenge here is not building, but taking a blank shell and deck it all out to the best of your designer abilities! Don't waste your time trying to change the architecture, because you will not be able to change the walls and roofing of this house!

We saw some amazing results and even some featured lots with the previous Showdowns, so lets ramp it up even more this time and dazzle the masses with your designer magic.

Like some of the previous Showdowns, you will be choosing an inspirational object from below (all from the base game).

You will choose ONE of these items to use as your inspiration to decorate and furnish your house. In the end, when the judges look at your media, they should know which item you chose just by looking at the way you decorated and furnished. Please also include the object you chose somewhere in your house and be sure to have it in a screenshot. You cannot duplicate the item you do use as your inspiration.

Requirements:

* You can change anything but the foundation, walls, and general roof shape
* Yes, all walls, foundation, and roof shape must remain the same
* You can add, delete, change, and relocate any windows and doors
* You can designate the rooms however you like
* You can't change the roof shape, but you can change the texture and color
* You can add fireplaces
* You can change, add or delete any columns and fencing
* This must be on a 30x40 lot
* The final cost of the house should not exceed 100k simoleans
* The theme is completely up to you. It does not have to be spring themed
* You do not need any expansion packs to compete (The original lot uses spiral stairs, but there is another version HERE)

Build-n-Share Challenge #149-150 • Ranch Dressing

“Your brother Ranunculus, is quite the chef!” you say to your assistant, Rose, as you enter the studio after a delicious lunch at the Little Corsican Bistro. “The steak au poivre is to die for!” You think to yourself that perhaps you shouldn’t have had that second glass of chateauneuf-du-pape, because now all you feel like doing is taking a nap. Then you notice that Rose hasn’t responded to your remark about her brother, who is now the executive chef at Sunset Valley’s local eatery.

“Is there something the matter, Rose?” you ask delicately.

“Mother’s back!” she blurts out.

“Is she here for a vis…”

“Byron’s dead! She’s moving back to Sunset Valley!”

Rose’s mother had abruptly left town the previous year after marrying Byron Barkley, a rancher from Appaloosa Plains. Rose, who used to live with her mother, is now living in the cottage you designed for her, and she has, you think, really come into her own. You wonder if she is afraid of being overshadowed by her mother again.

“Is your mother moving in with y…”

“She’s in your office. Waiting for you.” There is a look of desperation in Rose’s eyes. Then her eyes soften, and she says, “I do love my mother!”

“Okay, I’ll go see what I can do for her!”

Rose’s mother, Violet, is a slightly smaller, slightly grayer version of Rose herself. But there the resemblance ends. Whereas Rose is quiet and serious, her mother’s bubbly personality hits you as soon as you enter the room.

“It’s just fabulous to see you again, hon! You are so good to my little Rosie!” Violet enthuses all over you.

“Mrs. Barkley, I’m so sorry to hear about your husband’s pass…”

“Oh, never you mind that, hon! He died doing the thing he loved most. He was breaking a new horse, which, unfortunately, broke him instead.”

You are somewhat surprised by her casual attitude toward her husband’s death until you see her dab a tear from her eye with an impeccably ironed white handkerchief.

“Well then, what can I do for you? Or is your visit more social than professional?” you say awkwardly.

She gives you a wry smile. “Hon, let’s not kid ourselves. When I showed up here unannounced, Rosie turned whiter than the sheets on my bed! She’s afraid I’m going to move back in with her. And frankly, I don’t blame her. I can be a little overpowering. Rosie’s new cottage is the best thing for her. I don’t want to ruin that. No, what I want you to do is design a little place for me—oh, and for my two horses—oh, and for my stable boy, Pedro.”

You make a conscious effort to close your mouth, and before you can say something, Violet goes on. “And please don’t fill the place with floral patterns! I know Rosie loves them, but frankly, they give me a headache. No, I like simple, casual elegance. A Western or California kind of décor is okay—as long as it’s not too kitchy. Oh, and I like soft colors—no bright red dining rooms, please!”

You whip out your notebook and start writing. After an hour with Rose’s mother, you really need that nap, but as you usher Violet Barkley out, she grabs her daughter by the arm and says, “I’m sure the boss will let me take you out to lunch, sweetie. Let’s see if your brother, Nunkie, can come up with something fabulous for us, and I’ll tell you about the new place I’m having built right here in Sunset Valley!” She winks at you, and you nod your head in approval.

"Morning Rose." you say as you drag yourself into the office.

"Good morning!" The ever chipper Rose replies and begins to tell you about your morning schedule.

You don't really take much in, so jump in surprise as Rose buzzes in your next appointment. You quick glance down at your paperwork and see the appointment is for Mr. and Mrs. Fereday. You tell Rose to send them in and stand to greet them.

After greetings have been exchanged, refreshments brought in by Rose, and everyone is sitting comfortably the couple starts talking.

"It's so nice to finally meet you in person, my name is Katherine Fereday and this is my husband Cameron." The young blonde announces proudly. You remember they are newly married from your quick peek at their file.

"It's nice to meet you as well and congratulations on your marriage. Why don't you tell me what I can do for you?" You begin.

Cameron, a shy looking young man, begins talking. "Well you see, we were married a year ago and since the wedding we've been living with Katherine's parents trying to save up money for a house." He says, looking frustrated. "I admit I don't think either of us realized how hard it was going to be with all of us living together; what with her parents and siblings....It's just gotten to be too much."

"Cameron's an only child, so he's not used to the hustle and bustle of a full household." Katherine interrupts. "So while we haven't saved as much as we would like, we have a good amount to get a smaller home that we can maybe add onto later. Cameron's an author, so he works from home and my parents’ house doesn't allow him room to concentrate." Katherine states sadly.

You smile because you'd love nothing more than to help this couple. "So, tell me what you would like in a home and how much you have. We'll see what we can do for you two."

"I need an office for my writing and two desks would be wonderful, as Katherine has been studying to be a doctor and will need her own space." Cameron says.

"And obviously we need a bedroom; two guest rooms would be lovely so we can use one as a nursery when the time comes. It could even be set up as a nursery now; since my oldest sister has had a baby recently and it would be nice for when they visit from out of town." Katherine adds in, face flushed.

"It would be nice if we could have a space outside to have family over, we all love the outdoors. It's such a great escape and always gives me inspiration in my stories." Cameron finishes.

"Well, that's all good but now I need to know your budget." You say, making the smiles drop on their faces.

The two stare at each other and turn to you. Katherine makes the big announcement, "With what we received in wedding gifts, what we had saved up prior to the wedding, and what we've saved up since the wedding, we have a grand total of $83,000."

That's more than you thought it was, so you're able to give them the good news. "I think we'll be able to help you for that amount and get you everything you wanted." And they're so happy that they're running out the door, happy to leave the details to you.

Requirements:
Build Cameron and Katherine Fereday a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom house. (One room a master bedroom, the others guest rooms (One can be a nursery))
Any SP and EP can be used, no CC aside from patterns.
They need an office with 2 desks and one computer at least.
An outdoor space for family get-togethers.
Total cost of lot cannot be over $83,000 fully furnished
Any lot or size as long as it meets the basic requirements.
*Any style goes, let's see what we can all do with just the SP and EP's.

Optional Challenge: Story: Katherine and Cameron Fereday have finally succeeded! The two newly-weds have finally found the perfect home to start their life as husband and wife. They are still working out a the odds and ends, but they are definitely on the right track. Now Cameron can have the peace he needs to write, and Katherine finally has a home all of her own to start planning a family. Thankfully this house was within their budget.

“Ah, young love,” you think to yourself as you close the file on the Fereday job. Cameron and Katherine adored their new house and have assured you that they will be sending all of their friends your way for their decorating needs.

“Rose?” you ask over the intercom.

“Yes, boss,” she responds.

“Come on in, and let’s discuss this week’s schedule.”

You’ve hardly finished your sentence before the office door pops open, and Rose hurries in with a stack of files for you. She fishes one file out of the stack and pushes it toward you. “THIS one is big. Real big,” she grins. “The Mayor of Sunset Valley will be here at 9:00 to discuss it with you.”

“The Mayor?” you ask with just a bit of trepidation.

“Yep! In person,” she says proudly. “He’s heard great things about the firm and wants us for a huge project that’s already been green-lighted by the City Council. It’s going to be very high profile! I’m going to tidy up the reception area a bit and make sure there’s fresh coffee ready. He’ll be here in 45 minutes.” Rose gives you an encouraging smile then hurries out of your office.

With nothing to do but dive right in, you open the file and start preparing. Engrossed in your plans, you are surprised to hear a knock on the door. Glancing at the clock, you realize it’s almost 9, and the mayor must be here. You rise and open the door with a bright smile on your face.

“Come right in, Mr. Mayor,” you say as you usher the Mayor to a seat. “Rose, would you bring us two coffees? How do you take yours?” you inquire of the Mayor.

“Black, two sugars,” he responds briskly. Rose nods and hurries off.

“So, revamping Central Park?” you ask. “That sound like an exciting project for the city.”

“Yes, yes,” says the mayor. “The old park has held us in good stead for many, many years; but it just doesn’t function for our changing city. We’ve got all types of new folks moving in – young professionals, both single and with families. They’re used to certain types of activities being available in other cities, and we’ve got to change with the times if we’re going to keep them happy and settled in Sunset Valley.”

“Just what kinds of things do you have in mind?” you ask.

“Well,” says the mayor, “I’ve visited several surrounding cities that have a music venue right in the park. That opens up the space for all kinds of uses that wouldn’t otherwise be possible.”

“Mmmhmmm,” you agree as you add to your notes. “Thanks Rose,” you add as Rose arrives with coffees for you and the mayor. She nods back to you then quickly exits to leave you to the meeting.

The mayor adds his thanks and takes a sip of the coffee. “Perfection!” he says. “Nothing better than a fresh cup of coffee.” You agree and make a mental note to repay Rose somehow for remembering the Mayor’s fondness for coffee.

“And what else do you have in mind for the new park?” you ask.

“Oh, it absolutely must have a little al fresco café. Being able to grab a cup of coffee and a pastry or sandwich will play a huge part in bringing people in to enjoy the space.”

You nod in agreement and jot down more notes. Encouraged, the mayor continues, “People love the pond and fishing area, but it seems a bit plain and outdated. I’d like to see a new layout for that and more landscaping around it.”

“Do you have a concept of the style you thinking of?” you probe.

The mayor thinks for a minute. “The city area itself is pretty traditional, so I don’t want to clash with that, but I think we can make things a bit …” he trails off looking for the right word. “Hipper, I guess? Make it look like a place that all folks of all ages would like to hang out it. I’ll leave that vision up to you as you’re the expert.”

“Oh, absolutely,” you agree. “I’m getting a picture of what the new space could look like already. You’ve mentioned a music venue, café, and update of the old fishing pond. Is there anything else you’d like me to focus on?”

“The only other thing is the kids’ play area. All we have there now are swings, and that seems a bit limited. I’d love to see a playground with even more for the kids to enjoy. And space for the parents to sit and watch their kids, of course.”

“We can certainly do all that and more,” you assure the Mayor. “Would two weeks be an acceptable timeline?”

“Oh my, yes!” booms the mayor. “You sure do work quick. The council will be very pleased.”

“Anything I can do for the city,” you say graciously as you show the Mayor out, thinking to yourself “Phew, this is going a be a busy two weeks…”

Build-n-Share Challenge #155-156 • Florian's Fitness Center

Due to traffic, you're running late getting to the office. This is why you greet Rose, "Morning Rose, sorry I'm so behind. Traffic was terrible coming into town." without noticing the huge and bulky man sitting in the corner eyeing your harried appearance.

Rose coughs and stands up. "It's not a problem, however you have a surprise appointment." She announces and gestures for the man to stand up.

In a strong Austrian accent, he introduces himself. "I'm very sorry to burst in, but when I asked who was in charge of the recent work done on Central Park your name popped up and I decided to drop in on the chance you had some time to see me." The newly introduced Lukas Florian stated.

While Rose is getting together your morning coffee and other refreshments, you lead Mr. Florian into your office. "Please, have a seat. I'm very interested in what brought you here so suddenly Mr. Florian." You say, taking a seat.

Just then Rose comes in passing out refreshments and some pastries. "Thank you Rose." He says kindly, making her blush a bit. "And please call me Lukas."

The way he says it makes me flush a bit as well. "Hmmhmm, okay so let's get started. What can I do for you Lukas?"

"Well, it's like this. I own a chain of fitness centers and have been looking to open a few new ones. My team has been out scouting areas and originally we were going to pass over Sunset Valley, but one of my scouts passed through and noticed how many people were around due to the upgrade of just the park. So when they called me, I decided to come out for myself and do some research. In the past few months there's been a rise in Sunset Valley's population. Young couples, families just starting out and it turns out you have quite a few celebrities that have been attracted to the area because of the concert venue added to the park." He paused to take a breath here.

Lukas stood up and began pacing as he continued. "What it all comes down to is that the commercial lots here have become prime reality. I just went over to the 28 Hour Wellness Center and bought out the owner. This is where I want my newest fitness center. The cost of the center was a little over 121,000 Simoleans and I'm willing to invest more into it for a total of 175,000 Simoleans." Lukas finished, sitting back down and looking my way.

I was flabbergasted, 175k simo's was a lot of money to sink into a property like that. "So, what are your ideas for this center?" I asked, pulling my notepad and pen towards me. It was time to take some serious notes.
"You can either upgrade everything in the place, and I mean everything. It's so outdated I couldn't believe there were patrons." He shook his head and focused.

"I'd prefer if you bulldozed it and started fresh though, but whatever works best with the budget. This town is more homey, but with some modern thrown in. I don't know if a fully modern build will fit in, so I'll let you work out the specifics. The building should blend in though. It will need ample parking, at least 3 of each kind of exercise machines, bathrooms, showers, a sitting area, a lap pool at least, at least 2 dressing rooms and a juice bar. With membership to my fitness centers, you get the full deal. I expect celebrities, business men and business women to be stopping in when they have a bit of time to spare and those dressing rooms will be a necessity for them. DO you think you can manage that all on that budget?" He asks.

"I believe I can. Let me draw up some ideas and we should have something in a couple of weeks." You say. After a bit more clarification on some things, you walk him to the door. Taking a deep breath you head back in and to the drawing board.

Requirements:
-Your budget is $175,000 fully furnished
-Bulldoze or Completely Remodel 28 Hour Wellness Center in Sunset Valley
-Any design will work, but a bit modern is needed
-At least 3 of:

-Parking Spaces
-Bathrooms
-Each type of exercise machine

-2 or more dressing rooms with dressing tables or dresser and mirror
-pool, can be just a pool for swimming laps
-Juice bar with a couple tables and chairs for sims to sit at

Optional:
You can put in a counter with register to order food at with the juice bar and a hot tub area. Make it a relaxing place for sims to unwind after a long workout with friends.
