I know what you are going through... it is difficult to determine the exact sizes of the area's to use in caw. What I have done is to basically experiment with certain area's of a location I am interested in then use the medium or large CAW map sizes 1024 or 2048 to determine how much or how little of the area would be practical. Here is my first attempt at using the info from the tutorial, My home town in Brevard County Florida.

I remember growing up how popular the cartoon maps of this area were (especially the space center and disney) so I decided to recreate those style maps for this project. So I would not concentrate on the whole island but maybe a more specific area of the island. I find this works a bit better in the long run
