☆Color My World☆ Rainbowcy (Update 5/7)

Disclaimer: I am aware there was once another rainbowcy with the same title of "Color My World." However, since it has not been updated in over a year and never got past the beginning of the first generation I hope no one minds terribly if I use the name for my story as well.

    @AEventyr‌- It's gotta be hard for Eden to be the "bad guy" when Ethereal just wants to do something as simple as take a picture of herself though. At least they both got a good cuddle hug out of it.

    Yeah, Allium is just one of those guys whose mental age is waaaaay far behind his body's age. Not to say he can't have his more mature moments, but those are the exception more than the rule :disagree: It's too much fun to still write him as a little kid as well, haha.

    I didn't even think of that, but you're right. That is exactly the excuse I could see Purity giving for the sudden loss of color. If the story was going in a different direction, I totally would have had to borrow this idea of yours :blush: The actual reveal is going to be a bit harder to deny though.

    I lazily flipped to the next page, sighing and wishing the situation I was in would be over already. It was only the very afternoon following the morning where I woken up to find that I had reverted back to my white coloring, and already I was being driver crazy by boredom. I was truly and utterly trapped in the house. Eden had made a point of going to every room and even double-checking all the windows to make sure they were covered with blinds or drapes on the off chance that someone would sneak up close enough to the house to accidentally see me how I actually was. Not being able to look outside was more bothersome than I wanted to admit given how used to being able to come and go at my will I had grown.

    I suppose that was part of the reason why Eden made a shopping trip where the sole purpose of it was to get me items that would appease both my boredom and frustrations. Besides snacks, magazines, and a few new movies, he had also purchased me a white night shirt. For the several days I had of being Ethereal, I could at least have one item of clothing that matched me. I was giddy enough because of the gift, until I began pondering the other reason why Eden was choosing to be incredibly accommodating. Unfortunately, I remembered what he told me all those years back the first time we had done this- that me being stressed and panicked about the change could potentially cause the chemical to have an adverse reaction that could kill me. Back then I had assumed the issue would have been no worry, but now that I knew about the possibility it became almost all I could think about. I latched onto my entertainment because I did become stressed and worried. It took a lot of effort to forget the dangers of the mysterious injection we so eagerly jamming into my bloodstream.

    There was a small window of opportunity where I could break free past the barrier of my house. I was still able to communicate through the use of a phone. Too wrapped up in the whole thing to think of the idea myself, it was Allium calling me that made me realize I was not nearly as isolated as I thought.

    "Hey, Medyyyy. How's it?" he started the conversation off with a normal greeting of his.
    "Things could be better." I replied.
    "Oh no."
    "What?"
    "That was too negative of an answer. I was hoping for something positive."
    "Why?"
    "Welllll...okay, so, there's that assignment we had in Science, you know? We both know it's due tomorrow, and we both know I'm a procrastinating id.i.ot. I was hoping you would be in a good enough mood so that my begging for you to come over and help me, again, would be successful."
    "I would actually love to get out of the house at the moment," I laughed lightly, "But, unfortunately, Eden's got me under quarantine."
    "Yeah?"
    "I'm coming down with something, it seems."
    "You sound alright."
    "Uh-huh. I feel mostly alright, but Am and Set yesterday both pointed out that I looked pale. I've gotten ridiculously more pale since then, so Eden's making sure to keep me away from the big bad germs until we can get a better grasp at what's going on."
    "Ehhhh..." Allium partly whined.

    He was quiet for a moment.

    "How pale are you? Like Sap pale?"
    "I'm positively arctic- like a polar bear in the middle of a blizzard."
    "So more like Purity pale?" Allium laughed.
    "Yes. Exactly like that." I laughed back, knowing he thought I was being sarcastic.
    "Eden's right then. You need to stay in quarantine and get better. The last thing we need is for you to become like that piece of work in any way, shape, or form. You got that?"
    "Got it," I smiled widely, "Although, Charming?"
    "Yes'm?"
    "If you want, I can still walk you through the assignment over the phone. I'm terribly bored, so I'm up for anything really."
    "Yes, you are amazing!"
    "Alright, just let me-"
    "Ethereal!"

    Eden was knocking at the door. I hurriedly covered the microphone in hopes that Allium hadn't caught that. Ever since that one close call at the camp-out, Eden had a penchant for calling me by my real name when Allium was accidentally too near for comfort.

    "Eden needs to talk to me. I'll call you back in a second." I told Allium quickly but nonchalantly, and I hung up the second he said goodbye.

    I didn't bother bringing up the little incident. It wasn't as if Eden knew I was on the phone, and I didn't need him worrying that calling me Ethereal even in the safety of our own home was too risky. I opened the door to let him in, and he came in with an encouraging smile of his face.

    "How are you holding up?" he wondered.
    "I would love to be able to go outside, but other than that I'm good." I shrugged.
    "I'm sorry that you do have to be stuck inside, but I've got some good news for you that I think might help you cheer up."
    "Oh?"
    "As I'm sure you are aware, I've been doing a lot of talking with my 'friends' due to the green fading. I just got off the phone with one of them, and it was revealed to me that we're finally making progress. It's been long enough since I snatched you. The Company is slowly turning their attention away from the matter and from us. We haven't made any groundbreaking breakthroughs yet, but I can tell you that the percentage of us outing The Company versus us having to live in hiding if we can't has changed from 50-50 to 60-40."
    "You're serious?" I asked with stunned amazement.
    "As serious as can be." Eden confirmed.

    I had no words to say. I pulled Eden into a hug and thoroughly enjoyed the relief that came from now being able to hope more securely in the fact that everything would be just fine in the end.

    @Makayla_MakaPaka‌- Well, perhaps Meadow isn't actually so much against the idea :wink: Perhaps the two of them would make a super cute couple. We'll just have to find out who truly is the best for her :smiling_imp:
    I agree, haha :smiley: Sometimes I have the game open too much with me just staring at them while I let my ideas run instead of getting the pictures I need :disagree:

    Or YOU just aren't so much against the idea haha I like the idea of Amaranth and Ethereal better. He's always been sweet and kind, and he's just so cute :blush:
    Ethereal looked very nice white, but I have to admit I'm so used to seeing her as Meadow that the white was a little disconcerting!

    I'm always jumping back and forth between my preference. Sometimes it's the green I love, and other times I like the white better. I usually prefer white more at the moment since I don't get to see her that color often, but after I changed her back from white to green I remembered how pretty she is then. If only I could have her constantly flipping back and forth throughout the whole story, but I don't think she would be very fond of going through that transition process all the time :disagree:
    Someday soon I'm going to have a small playing session where I turn her all the colors just so I can see what she looks like with each :blush:

    @iButterfree - I think I'll like even an evil Amaranth, so do your worst! ETHEREAL AND AMARANTH FOREVER!!! :disagree:
    The white is pretty but its sort of... almost a shock when you see her. The green actually looks more natural and softer :) but I like her either way. One day (maybe at the end of the generation) you could post the pictures of her as different colours, and then as a normal-looking sim! I can actually picture her with dark hair and blue eyes, for some reason. Or maybe blonde :blush:

    No way! They got rid of the disagree smiley :anguished: And the star! :cry: Now all the posts on the Directory are going to look ridiculous :rage:

    @Makayla_MakaPaka- Your wish shall be granted then :naughty: I've a little something planned for Monday's chapter, and that's just the beginning of it.

    Yeah. I think the glow the skin adds doesn't help either. That's probably at least half of why the white looks unnatural. That's the just the skin though, unfortunately, and I've yet to find another white skin that looks halfway decent :expressionless: They're all a truly unnatural white or they replace the default skin instead of being a simple recolor.

    There's going to be a big fun post at the end of the generation. I've already got a save going where Ethereal is having babies with each of the boys so I can see what all their babies would look like :grin: I'll add the ones of her as each color there too since I don't want to give any spoilers in regards to the color she is supposed to be.
    Her in normal colors is something I could reveal right away though. Maybe I can do that in a playing session tonight after work :blush:

    The glow is good because it makes them look more ethereal (hehe) (now I can't type that word without thinking 'no! It's supposed to have a capital letter, its a name!')

    Aw, cute :blush: white Ethereal or green Ethereal? Hmm, so you already know which colour she is supposed to be... this should be an interesting post! Looking forward to it!

    I can understand adding new ones, but they really didn't have to take away some old ones. Going back to using XD feels so messy, or something like that, haha.

    Mostly just teenage hormones, but he's got his own deeper reasonings that he can't say anything about at the moment too :wink: Ethereal isn't the only one whose secrets are going to come out at the end. Even characters we haven't met yet will be spilling their guts (as I write that, I suddenly realize how weird a phrase that is.)

    I like to think the glow is a representation of the "special-ness" that the people of CMW's world see in albino people. That's why I had Ethereal say Purity seemed to shine the first time she saw her :blush: For the characters, they just stand out that much. For us, they actually glow :smile:
    It's weird isn't it, how relating a word to something can completely change how you perceive that word.
    There was an amusing incident at least a month ago or so where my sister was trying to say ethereal to describe some art. However, she completely mispronounced it. It came out sounding like 'urtheral' (which made me think of an urethra XD), and when I corrected her saying 'ethereal' sounded so weird. I write the word all the time, but it's a totally different thing to actually pronounce it.
    This video gives me a similar feeling. @itsjulie introduced me to it. It was the first time I had heard someone say amaranth, and it made me like it even more. There is such this elegant and graceful flow to it.

    Her true color is something I've had planned for a long time :blush: I'm trying to leave as few hints in the story or add in red herrings so it can be a surprise.
