MarLove6: Awesome! Do let us know how it goes, and have fun!
GoldenBuffy: I know! The motorbike incident had me laughing for the longest of times. Nothing like that has ever happened before. The answer to all your questions is, yes! Jam is definitely considered produce and salvagable objects are fair game as they are never worth anything. I don't know how the cart works with selling items, if it works like the consignment store then go right ahead but if it's more like the supermarket where you just sell your produce right away then I'd encourage you to use either the elixir or consignment store. Also, I forgot to put this in the rules and will update soon, your sims can buy any fruit that can't ordinarily be bought at the supermarket- such as plums and pomegranates etc. Your second generation can buy anything else they like from the stool, but as all the produce are excellent quality it's encouraged that you start from scratch with everything you can.
Hope that makes sense.
