I have Vector as well. I've got to say that it's quite addictive how much you can inflict on your towns! >:) I've unleashed (at most) 5 diseases ranging from minor to the serious, incurable ones. I try to limit myself to 3 though.
I will admit that (even though I've downloaded them), I haven't used any of the "Deadly" diseases. To me, killing is too easy. Now when you have a whole town of sick and suffering Sims (and a couple of Vector zombies sometimes  ), that's the fun part.
I absolutely love the S.I.V. disease (contracted through Woohoo). Why would I do that to my town? Because I'm a heartless monster- I admit it! >:)
I have to admit I haven't quite had the guts to enable the fatal ones yet. Maybe I'll do it at Halloween, I'm saving the Zombie ones for that anyway XD.
I think overall I have 4 (maybe 5?) diseases active at the moment. I just disabled notifications for the ones that spread faster.

Very few of the diseases, even the potentially lethal ones, are as nasty to cope with as Llama Pox. And it could have been worse. When I first started using Vector years ago, my active household's kids all came down with Llama Pox and Simfluenza at the same time (this is where I learned that unleashing multiple "new" diseases on a town all at the same time was a bad idea besides being a horrible strain on the game engine although this could have happened coincidentally anyway).
It was nearly impossible to get the children to the doctor for treatment as their moods were too low for them to comply. The one parent who never did come down with either disease spent hours outside of the hospital playing games with the sick kids until finally, briefly, their moods were high enough to allow them to get treatment (the mood impact on seeing a doctor I think has been softened since then). And we did not have a way to keep them out of school while being sick back then, thankfully that has been corrected.
When I sent an active adult over to a friend's house who was severely ill to cook and clean for them, he was kicked out for being a rude house guest for daring to do such things (that was my fault, I hadn't yet learned the importance of the Inappropriate But in a Good Way LTR). But seriously, who does this?
I wouldn't have sent the Dad to work though, I would have given him sick leave. Besides not being able to function very well in that condition, he could have helped out more at home during the day when he wasn't bedridden himself and would have been less likely to have passed the disease onto his coworkers. As for being down to the last §2 and that not being enough to afford health care (wish sims had health insurance provided), I might have sent a parent when they were feeling well enough in between things to the Business Buildingto infect everyone at the bankto take out a small loan (SP Money module) to help them get through. ;)
Good to know my first experience was one of the worst XD. Hopefully the cold my toddler caught from a rude party guest won't be so bad.
I can't even imagine having a house full of double sick kids. It sounds terrible!
I didn't really think about the poor game engine when I enabled vector (as I said above, got a few of them kicking around right now).
I think it probably has, I didn't have much trouble getting them to go to the doctor until later in the week (The father didn't want to go at first and the eldest child didn't want to go once she contracted the second illness). I have to say, I feel worst for the toddlers. Unless I just missed something they can't visit the doctor on their own and even when holding I didn't see an option for the parents to take them in. Poor little things!
I think I'll have to get that LTR myself, as my sims parents and grandmother just fell ill with simfluenza. I don't know who does that! I know when I'm sick I am overjoyed when someone else cooks.
At the time I was worried about not being able to pay rent or I would have let him stay home. He was just unlucky. Particularly unlucky because I didn't know you could actually get a loan from the business buildings <_<. (also, love the little simolean symbol!). I too, am wishing they had health insurance XD. At this point I'm buying immuno boosters since I can't afford to drop nearly double my rent for inoculations for each family member. Might have to go spread some some germs to the bank tellers and get a loan now.

I've been using it as well... but nothing quite so drastic has happened in my town yet!
But I've also only have the common cold active right now, and none of the others. Just to see how things work.
And so far, I just get a bunch of notices about who has contracted which strain, haha.
My Sims have not caught it themselves, but I believe I purchased the Simunity reward for one of them... and the other went for an inoculation awhile back.
I may have to activate one of the other diseases, just for more of a challenge!
Enable llama poooox. >:)
