Bistro Industrial Oven - 'Regular chef couldn't make it' annoyance.

If not averse to using mods, Ani's Business as Unusual mod for that store set fixes this and other unwanted behavior. The mod is now hosted at NRaas since her retirement; we have also released an updated version that fixed other bugs that the mod originally had. The mod requires that the oven and the customer table menus be replaced with her versions, which should show up in Build/Buy alongside of the originals.

Without the mod, the only thing you can do is try changing the lot type around. Some of them work better than others, but without the mod many of us got this issue with some degree of frequency regardless.

Confess I did give Ani's mod a try at the very beginning, but it was aaaaaaages ago and I couldn't make it work. However, I was at the end of my tether with it by that stage and was in a bit of a huff, so I probably didn't give it a proper go. I use many nraas mods and don't know how I would cope without them (playing with Dresser right-now-as-we-speak!) I will swoop over immediately, download and try again.

Thanks so much for your response, I honestly didn't think this would be on anyone's radar, let alone that they might offer me a proper solution.

Have you placed (or replaced) the mod's version of the oven and the customer table menus rather than EA's stock ones? The mod's version of the items will have the Custom Content little folder symbol above them in Build/Buy Mode.

From there you should be able to assign sims to be waiters and chefs yourself, setting up different shifts if wanted, by clicking on the oven.

If the waiters and chefs you assign yourself are still not showing up for work, that might suggest a different problem within the world such as routing issues. The mod should not be reassigning chefs and waiters on its own and in fact sims assigned to these slots are not allowed to quit. I believe they may be allowed to not show up for work if they die before their shift begins, but in my game that's not an everyday occurrence. ;)

It's still business as usual at NRaas. We won't be affected by the Wikispaces shutdown until the end of September and we will have moved to our new site by then (with a redirect hopefully, but honestly we won't be that difficult to find). :)

@SPARKY1922 - The disembodied voices glitch is fixed in the version of the mod that we have at NRaas. Not the older one still up on MTS.

Retuner doesn't have anything to do with job assignments, I think you mean Register. But Register does not control the chefs/waiters, Ani's mod does that on its own.

when you say Ani's Business as Unusual mod is fixed now does that also include a disembodied voice problem as I loved that mod but when my sim left the restaurant I could hear a disembodied voice everywhere and eventually tracked it down to that mod and noticed other players were experiencing the same thing as well..If that is defo fixed I would love to give that another go..

Is it possible to to use retuner to give townies these jobs still as I am sure in the past i have done that as well however the way my memory is at the moment could be wrong :) while I am here just a quick question about cupcake mod I have it set to auto stock but have noticed it does not auto stock when I have gone back into the bakery the day after where I have had to click on the restock option on the shelves instead..

If you use Ani's mod again for this please come back and let me know if it works okay as I am busy redesigning worlds right now so it will be a while before I will be trying it again but it would be nice to know it's good to go when I do...

I also like using Eat Outside Restaurants by icarus_allsorts on mod the sims as this allows another function of these rabbit holes enabling you to choose sims to eat outside plus there is a waiter option to the mod as well and I can confirm it all works okay if you wanted to try it. I don't think has anything to do with specifically using the bistro set though I also gave up that a long time ago too I just wanted something my sims could order and all eat at the same time and this mod gives me that :)

Thanks for explaining that now I know it's fixed i will defo be using that in future.. I had no idea there was no other way to control the chef's and waiters related to that object I thought there was another way but obviously getting mixed up somewhere which is possibly why i have hardly played it for years :)
