Blacked out person when trying to move someone in?

I am trying to move someone in to my household and they have appeared blacked out so you can't seem them, but can see a shadow. Is this a RAM issue or is my save getting old? (coming up to two years) ...

Sounds like some sort of graphics issue.
Have you tried moving your "The Sims 3" folder out and letting a new one spawn and try that way?
Have you tried in other saves? or with other sims?
