For those not averse to using mods, NRaas Overwatch and ErrorTrap help to make Bridgeport much more playable. Sims not actively being played will still get stuck in elevators and in the darkened NPC-only areas of their LN apartment lots, but OW will reset them or (what I prefer) notify the player so we can focus on and fix whatever the problem is and/or reset them ourselves before the unroutable issues and ensuing lag take over. And OW resets all of the elevators in town overnight for extra measure.
Without mods yes, the world can lag to the point of distraction because of these things. And there are far too many venues for the local population to really have to choose from for many of us, but that's fixable if we go in and get rid of the ones we don't think we need.
It's not really the greatest world to play for those who prefer to concentrate on our own sims and not want to pay attention to the other town residents around them or undertake townwide reconstruction projects -- nothing wrong with that, it's just that we all have different play styles.
I love playing in Bridgeport, but Riverview is still my favorite. Not Riverdale, that's where Archie, Jughead, Betty, and Vernoica are from (comic books/cartoons). But clearly Archie's Riverdale was the inspiration for some of that world, we can see it in some of the pre-made townies. I'm almost positive that Maximus McDermott is meant to Archie himself, for example, and then we have Betty Simovitch. ;)
Dragon Valley would rank a close third as far as EA worlds go.
Edit: I see now that there is a popular looking custom designed TS3 world out there called Riverdale. Sorry, maybe this is the one being referred to rather than EA's Riverview?
