can i put my own students in university on the sims 3

I want to know if it's possible to make a household of about 8 random sims, put them in the university world and make them go to university by themselves without me having to be active on the househol...

Those using NRaas mods can force enrollment of placed inactive sims in a world with a functioning university by using MasterController. NRaas > MC > (Sim) > Intermediate > Career > Choose Academic Career. Otherwise yes, they may end up living at a dorm or frat/sorority house but still be non-students. :)
