CAW help

Hello,

After never being able to find a perfect world i'm trying to create my own (not really, i'm editing one). I have downloaded some CAW files I like from mysimrealty, and I have two questions. I am trying to add more roads, which I know how to do, but in their world they have custom roads so obviously it does not match. Is there a way to get the custom roads that are already in the world so they can match. Secondly, I'm wondering if there is the ability to cut out a large section of a world (a bit like the bulldozer tool), because some of the worlds are too large for me and I'd like to cut them in half almost.

Thanks, any other information appreciated, I am a massive noob

  • Hi :)
The custom roads are already there.
Go Road Tool and right click on the road you want to use~ Choose Set road as Active.

You can't make the map smaller. You can delete the lots, roads, and objects then use the terrain tools to edit the map and map it a smaller island in those places you don't want.

  • Thank you so much! I wasn’t right clicking on the road, only left clicking, so it was coming out as different, That was so simple, if only i’d asked an hour ago
  • I know what you mean. I remember all my first questions.
  • @Rflong7 I've finished editing the world, how do I convert it to be downloaded In my game?
  • Well, Do you want to rename it? -Right click on the World name.world in the World Layers box. Click on Add/Edit Description.

You might need a picture. There's the several shared pictures, maybe.

The basic one from CAW is here:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3 Create a World Tool - defaultworldthumb.png

Once you give it a name and a picture, you can export it from the File option on the Toolbar (Select World to Export).

Once it's done exporting, close CAW and go to Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3/Exports and double click your world to install.
  • Don't you have to delete the Rfid file with S3pe first, when you're editing a pre-made world, before you can give it a new name?

They're editing the shared CAW files of the world, is what I understood. I don't know what that file is.
  • I should have looked it up before replying. It's the WPID 0xF609FD60 and UNKN 0x296A6258 files that need to be deleted with S3pe, according to this tutorial: Research - Editing Premade Worlds

I've always used pre-made worlds to make mine, and have always done this.

You only need to remove the WPID number if you want to upload someone's world, want to reupload your own world, or want to have them both installed. And from what I read, UNKN 0x296A6258 is if you're opening an EA world.

They said they got the CAW files from mysimrealty so they don't need to give it a new number to have it installed and played.
  • I was editing the shared CAW files, but I also had the original world downloaded. I just deleted that first before downloading the new one because that wouldn’t work, and it was easier this way. I don’t need both downloaded after all. Thank you both for your help.
