@Nikkei_Simmer Drawing is a wonderful hobby! I enjoy it very much myself :) It's not a zone-out kinda thing, on the contrary it really keeps your mind engaged, it makes you think about what lines you should place and where. It doesn't really matter what materials you choose to start, pencil and paper (and an eraser) will do. What matters is that you get the fundamentals (e.g. form, construction, light and shadow) down.
In fact, if you have a powerful motivator (e.g. really wanting to draw your Sims, or me really wanting to draw my favourite characters from other franchises), it takes most of the work out and makes it really fun! With every piece you do, you learn "on the job" as well, if you know what I mean.
As for me, I promised myself a long time ago that I would try and draw my Sims. I have reference images ready and everything. Hasn't happened, unfortunately. If only I could tear myself away from drawing Vocaloids (my other current obsession)...
