Creating a pond on Residential Lot - Fish

Hi
Im doing a agoraphobia challenge where my sim cant leave the lot. She's a writer so she writes books (she quickly learnt the writing skill and registered as self employed author) She's got a few plants in the garden and I have the online centre mod to buy groceries/consignment store etc etc. If I dig a pond in her garden deep enough - will there be fish in there to be caught. I dont really want to use buydebug.

Thanks

There will be fish in there, but not a large variety. Any body of water in the game will have the same basic, low skill level fish in it, which your sims can catch. But it won't be a "very active" spot, and you won't see them jumping. It will also take longer to catch fish, but if your sim is confined to the home lot, she probably has plenty of time to fish anyway.

You don't need to add spawners, you'll get basic types of fish in a pond without them, but as said above, you'll not get specialty fish or very many varieties.
  • Id rather not cheat, I think with her writing career she'll be fine. Its meeting a future hubby thats the hard bit with using online dating. All the people on chat online are female which is fine but Id rather she met a guy. Just have to increase the friendship with the ladies she's met online and then invite the household over lol
  • Ive just re read the rules I can use some spawners which I might do. Thanks for your replies
  • You don't need spawners to catch fish at home—you can stock the pond yourself with whatever you want. I often create a pond for one of my sims to catch deathfish, since you can only get six per night at the graveyard. The fish won't be jumping, but the spot will be "a decent place to fish." Even better, your sim will only catch the fish that you stocked. The stock also only reaches so far, so a medium-sized pond can contain two or three separate fishing spots that don't overlap. It takes ten fish to stock the pond, and you can do so as many times as you like.

As far as how efficient it is to fish this way, I usually stock the pond three times (so 30 fish) in the same spot, and my sims who have met the Commercial Fisherman challenge (catch 350 fish, and you'll catch them faster) catch one fish every 40 in-game minutes. That's certainly much slower than the best fishing spots, but the catch rate is steady and there's no travel time.
  • I think I’ll do that. I put spawners in but there was so many fish the water was boiling there were so many fish splashing around so I took them out. Pond is frozen now cos it’s winter but when it’s spring I’ll stock. She’s just got married and hubby moved in. He was pretty loaded so money not so much an issue
