creating new lots

I was wondering if anyone knew how to give a newly placed lot an address (either manually, or how to make the game do it). I wanted to place a larger lot where two smaller ones were, and despite it fitting perfectly onto the corner of two streets, no address showed up. (In case anyone wonders, I placed it in SV where the Bunch household and the empty lot next door used to be.) Also, the lot size options in Edit World mode are so limited; is there a way to make a custom-sized grid for placement?

I don't have any special CAW tools, just the Edit Town options that the fully patched game gives me.

  • For custom sized lots you can use this mod.
As for addresses, I have no idea but I am sure someone else will.

@Mikezumi Thanks! Do you know if it's compatible with the pile of nraas mods I use to keep my game working?
  • It's possible you need to use Create-a-World tool to give the added lot placement an address. CAW is free but only for PC and Steam users have to edit the game registry. Hopefully, I'm wrong and someone knows the answer.

The Add Any Lot Size mod is compatible with NRaas mods.
  • It says "This is a scripting mod. It should not conflict with any other mods and should be safe to remove at any time." so it should be fine. Just copy your files just in case and clear your caches.
  • @puzzlezaddict I use nraas mods and the custom lot mod and have no issues.
  • @SimplyJen @coco @Mikezumi Thank you, everyone. I'm on a mac, so no CAW for me, which is why I was wondering if I could force an address on a new lot. It just seems so strange to have a house sitting there with no markers... but if there's no way to do it, I'm sure I'll be okay.

It's been said before, but somehow it was left to modders to add a functionality that was left out of the vanilla game for no apparent reason.
  • NRaas Tagger has the option you are searching for. With it you can change or create a lot address!
  • The mod you need is...oh, @AlexaKry beat me to it. With Tagger, the option to set or change a lot's address is on the lot menu or its map tag in Live Mode. No need for CAW tools or a return trip to Edit Town. :)
  • @AlexaKry Thanks, that's exactly what I was looking for. I don't have Tagger now because I don't usually feel the need to stalk keep track of townie sims, but I see it has additional uses as well.

And @igazor I figured you'd show up with the answer eventually, but it's nice to know that other people can help as well. Especially if you ever decide to take a vacation.
