Did this happen in Sims 2 or 3? you could eventually turn this doll into a sim. Only the child can see it. When they receive that "mysterious gift" in the mail.......I can't remember which one it was in 2 or 3?
I laughed so hard when I read this. I knew exactly what it was about before I opened it. xD I haven't gotten one in a while either, but I turned the percent rate down from what... 75% to .001.
I don't find IFs creepy myself, just annoying which is why I tuned them out using Retuner. But there is something I like about the ones I've seen pictures of in other players' games who have been made real. They seem to have an element of sadness or melancholy to them that other sims don't have, as if they have "seen" things while quietly sitting on a shelf that no sims should have to see. It's been pointed out to me that this is all in my mind and IFs who have become real are just like any other sims, and those who have done so are probably right.
But I'm just not patient enough to go through all of the steps involved in nurturing that IF friendship until the possibility of them becoming real even exists. Will revisit some day. :)
I've got a Mod to make the IF's deletable and buyable as well as I removed the chances of getting them randomly given out to babies with NRaas Mods.I just want to control who gets them and who dosen't based on if they've got room for it and if they can handle it.
My first IF turned real was a doll I thought my Young Adult had lost ages ago. I was a bit sad about the missing doll as I like them. Then strange messages started appearing that the top right of my screen indicating that something was running around town. My sim hadn't interacted with the doll for such a long time they were not friends. Eventually the doll visited, in doll form, and only that sim could see him.
My Sim started working on the chemistry table and after he learned all of the other potions he finally got the potion to turn the IF real. Then he had to improve the relationship and that took forever too before the IF would drink the potion.
Since then that IF has been married twice - his fist wife left him for an elder - and raised his son from his first marriage on his own. They used to be a commonly seen pair around town whenever the IF wasn't working at his ghost hunter career. He got to the top of that all while I was playing other households.
Then the game paired him up with a singe female Sim I'd added to the game and it seems to be happily ever after for them. Two of his four children inherited the IF trait and can take on doll form.
I've nurtured two IFs. My first one was in Appaloosa Plains and it was just testing. The second, I changed her genetics to looks like an evil gremlin once cured. >:)
I think I can find the screenshots. I believe these weren't lost.
Even though I don't find them creepy, I agree they're annoying (specially when they can't wait for my sims to use the bathroom) and somewhat too common. It would be great if they could be bought or sold in the original game. I often delete them before my babies get too attached.
I had my two sims adopt a toddler so the IF came in the mail. I shouldn't have used the word creepy. They are cute. I look forward to turning the IF human. Also, my sim is pregnant, so there will be another IF joining us soon. heehee

I wonder if two turned IF can have a baby?
@Scorpina2009 , Just keep in mind there is a slight change your baby may not get the doll, I’ve had babies that never get the doll in the mail. Unless you have mods of course then you could just set the chance of getting them to 100%...(I’m modless).
