Some other people had some success when they got rid off (uninstall) of the yellow death (read Symantec). But I remind you it's really bad idea to have no AV on the PC, so have some other AV software ready. I haven't had a chance to test this out by myself.
With some luck I might have more time next week so I'll try this out
McAfee here. I've already uninstalled it to see if maybe that was interfering with the game (updated to a new version about 4 days before the game's release) but no dice. But a good suggestion to anyone else whom may be having the same issue.
