@Nikkei_Simmer I try to avoid installing CC as Sims3Packs. There are exceptions such as worlds and Sim that need to stay as Sims3Pack files.
I use Delphy's extractor tool too when extracting the package files from the Sims3Pack files.
I put into a single folder (named appropriately) all of the Sims3Pack files by a particular maker, and sometimes I further drill it down to hairs, clothes etc for a particular maker. I try to end up with a package file containing all of the CC named by maker and type of CC. Eg maker_hair.package
Once I've got that bit sorted I have a folder with a few, to a LOT of package files in each folder.
Then I use S3Pe to combine all of the package files in each folder. This means I end up with less package files in my Mods folder. I do have to keep the original Sims3Pack files though just in case I need to remove a package from my combined files. I just have to redo the process to make that combined package file without the files I no longer want included.
The thing with doing it this way is it can reduce the size of the CC as makers tend to use elements of their CC in more than one Sims3Pack or package. S3Pe eliminates all the duplicate sub files when combining it.
I go through my CC every so often to eliminate stuff I don't want or that doesn't work as expected - such as chairs the Sims can't use properly.
I usually try to reduce the size of my mods folder when doing this but I generally find myself adding more. My mods folder in my current Sims 3 folder is 8.6 GB and my game runs well. I also have a lot of CC installed as Sims3Packs at the moment such as several worlds and a few other bits and pieces plus all of the Sims 3 Store content I was able to buy since I started in 2009.
