I have always played with the Imaginary Friend, and had my sims marry their IF, but this time around I did do not want that. So I learned how to delete the IF. For those of you who do not know this ...

You were able to bury IF's in the dirt once to get rid of them, I believe, but sadly that was fixed in a patch.
Haha. Oh, how I wish I hadn't missed out on that activity. I think I would have enjoyed it . . . just as long as I didn't see a picture of some buried sad looking IF somewhere.
