Deleting CC

Are you deleting the five cache files in the Sims 3 folder in Documents\Electronic Arts? They should be deleted any time you add or remove content from that folder. For reference, they are:

• CASPartCache.package
  
• compositorCache.package
  
• scriptCache.package
  
• simCompositorCache.package
  
• socialCache.package
  

If that doesn't help, try creating a new Mods setup, or downloading a new Mods Framework from Mod the Sims:

Don't add any of your existing mods back in yet. Either download a fresh copy of a mod you want to use, or try the two sample mods in the MTS Framework. Let me know whether the game crashes.

Please also let me know what patch level your install has. Among other places, you can see it in the lower left corner of the launcher. If it's not fully patched (1.67 or 1.69), many mods and possibly some custom content won't work.

I am patched to 1.67. I refuse to patch to 1.69! lol!

I deleted all of the DCCache folder as the web said to do. And as soon as I put all that stuff back in there the game works fine. But as I understand it, that is where all of the Sims3packs are stored? So there is a link between that & my current mods folder.

Any custom content you've installed through the launcher is bundled into .dbc files in DCCache, and store content is bundled into .ebc files in DCCache. The other files in that folder are expendable. So the game works when that content is present, but not when it's gone? It's usually the opposite.

The contents of DCCache should be independent of anything in the Mods folder.

I have no idea how any of it works, honestly. I just was trying to do anything to fix my game without uninstalling my disks. That was just a suggestion. So it did work, but maybe with this new Mods folder it will work perfectly?!?! Here's hoping anyways!!! I'll let ya know in a few!

I did find the culprit from a much appreciated messenger. It's the Cupcake mod from NRAAS. But, thanks to you, I have been able to start from scratch and only add back in what CC I really want! Thanks!

Now I think I might understand what was happening. If you have Cupcake without the bakery store set, the game will crash while loading. (This can also happen if your store content is corrupt and therefore not loading properly.) So if you add back the store stuff, as in the files in DCCache, the mod works again.
