I wasn't saying that they didn't re-release the base game disc in 2012 with altered installation mechanisms. That's exactly what they did. I was saying that the disc you now have in your hands with the 2012 files on it could not have been manufactured in 2009. Guess we end up in the same place regardless, this is an Origin and now Patch 1.69 required install disc. Those that were made earlier on are not.
Origin as we know it today did not exist in 2009, it was launched a couple of years later. There were other authorized digital install mechanisms prior to this that are now no longer available for purchase; my digital game came from GamersGate originally and had its own installers as did those who purchased digitally from Amazon back then. And I am sure there were ways to purchase digital installs directly from EA at the time.
Think you and I often agree, just say things in a different way.
Yes agree, this disc wasn't made in 2009, no way. It had one 2009 file on it that I saw with the little bit of digging around I did, and that was Sunset Valley world.
The more I think about it, the more I think that's what happened, because it was night time, and I was playing Sims 2 & saw the commercial for Sims 3, and I wanted it right away.
Yes, you are correct, we are at the same place. So sorry, if you were disappointed. Me too big time.
From now until whenever we will be married to Origin if we choose to buy any more games from EA.
And right again, but think I've said this already in one of my other posts, Origin wasn't around in 2009.
I'm by no means perfect & will be the first to tell everyone I am not. Made a mistake in my memory of how I got the game initially, sorry.
