EA you are violating your own terms
If you have not updated your game past 1.67 don't buy anymore stuff packs or sets for Sims 3. EA is forcing update if you do. I bought 2 stuff packs and was not able to install them unless I updated...

Do one better, ask EA to sell the original game on disc with key code for all who want their game without Origin.
They never said in the beginning of the contract we had to accept Origin or a game tied to Origin indefinately.
And a sale is a contract.
We shouldn't have to go through all this trouble to avoid a software we do not like, just to play our game.
ETA: I know they rolled back Origin to the previous version to get through this latest problem, so the fruit from Bohemian Garden Set was available for sale in the grocery stores again, because it was no longer in the grocery stores for sale.
Now Origin is asking for an update & I'm afraid to update it because it may go back to the previous problem (fruit not for sale in grocery stores)
So what is the solution ?
