EA you are violating your own terms
If you have not updated your game past 1.67 don't buy anymore stuff packs or sets for Sims 3. EA is forcing update if you do. I bought 2 stuff packs and was not able to install them unless I updated...

Thank you for the explanations and link re the core mods including the info on the patch levels those mods require but can I just clarify with you that I can use mods after 1.63 of any variation up to 1.67 (1.69?) with my disc game and they should work okay? (I mean obviously I will test as well)
