Thanks. Which nraas mods should I get ? There are so many of them !- This is a known issue that's been around for a long time, usually related to houses with foundations. I think the best way around it is to manually send your firefighter sim to just outside the lot with the fire (click on the ground, Go Here), tell your sim to walk onto the lot, and only then tell them to fight the fire.
I haven't heard of a mod-related fix, although of course ErrorTrap and Overwatch are wonderfully helpful overall. - Another could be that sims will sometimes put out small house fires on their own before you can even get to it. I was having the same problem until my sim got to level 5 (through skill building alone) and started to encounter bigger fires.
Also, if you have seasons installed, try disabling most of the weather under settings. I think I also sometimes had fires get cancelled because it was raining, which put the fire out. - Thanks for the tips . I forgot how buggy the sims 3 is. :)
- @jimbbq It is indeed a very common glitch and has been for years. :( One I didn't have an issue with until I played the Career for the first time outside of Twinbrook (The Ambitions world). Never had an issue with the Firefighter Career in Twinbrook. :star:
One suggestion I read from someone who tried many different suggestions and they didn't work, determined to find a solution, was to place the firehouse on a 50x50 or bigger lot (make sure to set the lot to Firestation) and have it rest in the middle of the lot. Do not reposition it to be at the front of the lot or in any corner. I guess that causes glitchiness from what they were saying (to get the fire truck out). ?♀️
I gave it a try in my current save and my Fireman sim was able to go to a home and take care of a Gnome Invasion, but he still has yet to fight an actual fire since I made the change. I'll let you all know if he does when I get back in game.
I was also reading that the glitch is with "small house fires." So once your sim increases in rank that problem should go away because they can fight bigger fires. However that was not the case, so far, in my game so I went with the repositioning of the station on the lot instead.
The last thing I read was that there might be a problem with the Career outfit for firefighters. I still have yet to test this, but they say that it's best to manually have your sim change into their firefighter gear via a dresser (even make them change after they automatically did) and that's supposed to fix the glitchiness as well. I dunno. Just different stuff to try. :p
Will keep you updated. ? - graceymanors5 years agoLegendThe issue has to do with foundations on houses.I have yet to try the uniform, so I will let you know.

@GraceyManor ^I saw that @puzzlezaddict noted that as an issue as well and...it seems to be the truth.
I discovered that most of the homes (actually it's possible that ALL of them) in Aurora Skies are on foundations so it would seem the Firefighter Career is really not the best to play in that world. Plus the homes are GIANT - we're talking 3-5 story homes - and it would probably take forever for your sim to fight the fires and rescue Sims anyway. *All my sim could do was the gnome invasion and building disaster. Anything house fire...nothing. Tis a real shame... :pensive:
I swear my firefighter sims back in Twinbrook responded well to homes on fire with a foundation, but I could very well be wrong as my memory isn't what it used to be anymore.
**I don't know if having the Fire Station resting in the middle of the lot helped or that it's just been the "homes with foundations" issue all along. I think we can assuredly say that THAT is main reason for the Firefighter Career Glitch. I certainly proved it playing tonight. ? **
I did use the cheat to try and spawn a job on the lot, but they all appeared as unclickable and this was the message I was given when I hovered my mouse over it.

Not sure what it's trying to say, because I set the lot to a Fire Station, and for some reason the gnome invasion and building disasters weren't clickable when my Sim was able to do them, and I had all the required items on the lot. ?♀️ I just figured it was worth showing in case others notice this as well when trying to cheat to fix the problem. ;)- I was so very excited to play the sims 3 metal but it is still plagued with bugs .....
