It's not a glitch, it's just how the game works. It works the other way too. I had a professional athlete who jogged three times a week for her entire life, even long after she made the marathon runner skill challenge. I expected her to live for some time after she reached the set end of the life expectancy. But no, the grim reaper came for her on the very day she reached it. And her husband, who was older than her and never exercised a day in his life, lived for weeks after she died.
