Game crashing when trying to save

Hello,

For the first time in 18 months I decided that I wanted to play the Sims 3. I had loads of fun - for about 10 minutes. First three times it let me save, but after that it told me me that I can't because of "code 16" (not sure if this is the right English translation, I'm from the Netherlands). Somehow this "code 16" destroyed my entire game as everything was gone due to a "serious error" and I had to start from the bodom. Also, it constantly sets itself back to default settings (I normally play on high settings, but it constantly sets itself back to low settings to help the game run faster or something).
What's going on here and is there something I can do so that the game will actually remember my settings/options and lets me save?
Also, "save as" has proven to be an unsuccesful method.

Thanks in advance,

Viefster

  • Hmm. Code 16 is relatively unusual these days, as far as these things go. Not that this would make you feel any better about getting it. In the past it was often a sign of a hard drive being too full or going corrupt. Can we get some specs on the computer on which you are playing -- processor, RAM, graphics card, and especially the size of the drive where the game is installed and the amount of drive space left free?

If you don't know how to retrieve those, it would be best to run a full dxdiag report, send the results up to Pastebin.com (the free version is fine for these) or a third party file share service, and provide a link so we can read it.
