Ghost question

I'm playing as Darlene Bunch. Her and her boyfriend, Mortimer, went on a fun little date at the fairgrounds around fall time. They both went venturing into the haunted house, only for Darlene to come back completely fine (which is a blessing considering her unlucky trait) and Mortimer as a ghost.
How do I bring Mortimer back to life? I read about the ambrosia thing, but Darlene is only level 7 in cooking, and there was no Grim Reaper to come to collect his soul.
Any other suggestions? All help is appreciated.
