Update! (Actually, I've just moved the family with mare 21 to a new house, but there's still catching up to do. ) Let's see, we were on Mary . . .
The winter weather was turning nasty, so Katie and Everett busied themselves with their hobbies, although Katie still made sure to get Eloquence out into the snow to train her. (No more riding in swimsuits!)
Everett was still trying to teach Smokey to play dead, and taking the recommendation to teach the trick 'in a variety of environments' very much to heart. Agnes told Engus that humans were sometimes quite strange.
Also that winter, Wren had a birthday, and grew from a toddler into a genie child. She had come into her powers, and her strange doll came into its powers as well.
Engus had a birthday the same night, becoming an impressive Clydesdale-cross stallion.
Wren had inherited her mothers love of horses, and early the next morning was out making friends. If only she were old enough to ride!
Everett distracted her with a rousing snowball fight that left them both cheerfully soaked and frozen while Katie took Agnes and the fully trained Eloquence on to the Equestrian center. The zorse mare sold for nearly as much as her half-sister Electra, bringing in $11,308. Agnes' owners would be picking her up from the center later, and Engus would be passed on to them once he was trained.
On the way home, Katie noticed a new herd of wild horses, including some very attractive mares. She had a different wild mare in mind for the nineteenth foal, however, so she didn't stop to watch them.
Engus was put into training. Bulky as he was, he had an impressive jumping ability. With both enthusiasm and talent, he and Katie took every jump available. And, perhaps, became a bit overconfident.
