Ginger's a bit too similar to one I have planned, but I've snagged Crayola - she'll fit in perfectly. With a bit of luck I'll get a real kaleidoscope foal!
Ahem, back to Riverview . . .
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Evanescence and his mother might have left, but life on the farm continued. Electrum was becoming fast friends - and more - with Fern.
He liked Fairy too, but she was still settling in, so Fern was the one he courted. Katie, sad to see her unicorn colt leave, sought consolation in time travel, searching backwards and forwards for something she wasn't quite sure of.
Everett decided that he really needed to step up his riding lessons and started exercising the well-trained Fairy. This helped the mare adjust to the farm schedule and improved his riding ability.
Later, Fairy and Electrum discussed the newest hit movie: Womrats in Autumn.
Jocelyn came for a visit, and went swimming with her mother-in-law and the dog. Of course, this turned into a hold-your-breath challenge.
Around noon a few days later, Fern summoned everyone in the vicinity to come see her new colt. He bore his mother's back and shoulder stripes under Electrum's zebra pattern. Wren named him Elm. He was a cutie and he knew it!
He tagged after any member of the herd that seemed to be doing something interesting, human (or genie), dog, or horse. Fairy was now more interested in Electrum; either she'd got used to her new home or she wanted a foal of her own!
Time seemed to fly by until Elm aged up into a splendid stallion - in the dark, as usual. (That dark mark on his side is a tree shadow, I think.)
The next morning Katie gave him a quick grooming and saddled him up for the first time. Like his sire and dam, he was a willing worker. He went well in western tack, not seeming to mind the heavy saddle.
With Elm under saddle, Fern was sold, and the date of the move to Moonlight Falls was set. The next ten foals would be largely bred from fairy mares, many of whom were even more exotic than Fairy mare.
