The storm was short but snowy, and there was no school the next morning. Wren sometimes wondered, that winter, if she was ever going to get to school! But there were horses to tend and snowmen to build, so she kept busy enough. Pastelle wanted very much to help her with the latter.
Electrum and Hope found a way to stay warm despite the chill air.
Snow or not, Wren enjoyed painting on her new easel. Her father had offered to move it inside, but she didn't like feeling crowded.
Easter had no fear of the cold, and Pastelle seemed to feel the same. Of course, a good gallop really got the blood pumping! Like mothers everywhere, though, Easter never seemed to think her daughter had a clean-enough face.
Easter was taken out for a ride occasionally, to give her a little time away from her filly.
And then - foal twenty-five was born! "Halfway there!" said Katie, feeling elated, and so they named Hope's filly Elation.
The fillies got on famously. You'd never know they were sisters. :P
