Katie decided to travel to the past again. She'd heard there was a prehistoric magical gnome - perhaps the ancestor of all the ones she had? - and was determined to find one. Unfortunately, getting out of historic time was hard. She kept playing the Fool for medieval kings, discovering America, and fleeing lions in the Colosseum. But she persisted.
Tonight however, she might have done better to stay, as Crayola decided she was tired of being pregnant and evicted her foal two weeks ahead of schedule. Introducing Iris:
Not quite so rainbowy as hoped, she had washes of green and a very subtle orange, plus her dam's black spots quite clearly splashed across her rump. Iris was a big filly, and suffered not at all from her early arrival. In fact, the vet opined that had she waited, she would have been too big for a natural delivery. She was a born runner and never walked if she could gallop.
Crayola suddenly decided that all dogs were really wolves in disguise, waiting to pounce on her 'helpless' baby, so Adam found himself chased out of the pasture whenever she caught sight of him. Deprived of his equine companions, he tried to entice the gnomes to play. But they kept their own counsel, as always.
A strange guest arrived at the gate one night. Everett panicked and begged her not to kidnap anyone in the family, but she only wanted to phone home.
Iris, always in a hurry, grew up in a flash.
And Everett learned the hard way that one should unplug a dishwasher before trying to repair it.
