Gilt Sparrows - a Fifty Foal Challenge

Morning started with breakfast for everyone, including Bonfire. Despite the gloriously mild, sunny start though, the clouds soon rolled up and the temperature plummeted. When Everett glided out to watch his shy Violet, there was a foot of snow on the ground. Thank goodness for a genie's ability to hover! ;) He still had to stand in the snow to watch her, but he didn't get soaked just getting out and back to the wilder zones.



The gnomes were doing gnome things. Several gathered around the barn's back wall, as if watching an invisible television set . . .



. . . but they turned out to be just grouping with the rest, as if the barn weren't actually there.



Not all of them enjoyed the snow, though.



Katie returned from a trip to the Renaissance with a new outfit that was actually quite comfortable in the chill. Wool for the win!



The foals played for a bit in the snow, then came in to the warm barn. Wren got an excellent shot of Bonfire's mis-matched eyes as they did, by getting down on her level.





She also tried out the panorama setting on her new camera.



As the sun set, Adam had a nice 'chat' with a wild horse at the horse park, and Gilty Spots grew up.

Katie took him right on out to start training in the snow. Later, when the full moon rose, he joined the mares for a late supper.





It was nearly as bright the next day when Wren came out to feed and groom the herd. No school for two days - and then a weekend!



Electrum preferred the warmth of the barn to the cold winds, and Adam was happy to join him there.
