The new morning dawned bright and snowy, a bit too much so for a new arrival.
It wasn't quite as cheerful a morning as it looked, though, because it was the day that Goldenrod was scheduled for sale at the EC. Wren was grooming Gilty in the barn so he wouldn't see his dam being taken away. Everett had promised to bring home a new mare that night, which had cheered her up a bit. Goldenrod wasn't up for auction; she had been contracted for by a breeder impressed by her color, for $9500.
In the evening, Katie saddled up Gilty and completed his training, the dropped him off at the Equestrian Center as well. He brought in $8633, a respectable price.
Meanwhile, Everett was out fulfilling his promise to his daughter. The wild purple mare was quite used to him by this time, and readily came up to beg for apples.
After offering a few treats, he made a proposal - no genie magic involved. Would Violet consent to come home with him? The mare agreed, in a shower of (non-genie) blue sparkles.
