Oh, those kittens again. :)
The OP doesn't have any EPs, or they have ITF only, as per a prior thread. Therefore, they might have a bit more leeway as to how much CC and which mods their game can carry. Unlike game utilities, which are programs, mods are cross-platform. They work the same way on Macs as they do on Windows.
For some reason, I tend to be partial to mods from a place called NRaas.
StoryProgression - of course
MasterController - offers menus of commands through which you can fix things that have gone wrong on demand, and offers a more flexible verison of CAS
Overwatch, ErrorTrap, Register, GoHere, Traffic - to kill various kinds of bugs and glitches
Relativity - adjusts the way time passes relative to the game clock so your sims can get more (or less) done each day
Traveler - Don't let your sims leave their homeworld without it
Saver - Doesn't auto-save, but instead puts up regularly scheduled reminders, totally adjustable, for you to save yourself and suggests a Save As name that is slightly different from the one before so you have multiple safe points to revert to should that be needed.

I'll let others tell you where to go shopping for CC as we all have different tastes.
