Good Sims 3 store worlds?

Nearly all my save games are based in Sunset Valley or Appaloosa Plains. I used to have a Bridgeport save, but I’ve since had lag issues with Bridgeport. Similar story with Moonlight Falls. And I’ve never been able to use Isla Paradiso. I know all three (particularly IP) are famously laggy. I don’t mind particularly, I like SV and AP and often create my own lots (eg an arboretum/vault of antiquity, dive bars/clubs/lounges etc).
I’ve never downloaded any world from the Sims 3 Store, apart from Riverview which was free anyway and I don’t use often. I like the look of Sunlit Tides, and I understand it’s not too laggy. I also like the look of Monte Vista. Are they worth getting? Are there lag problems?

  • Thanks everyone!

I do like the look of Monte Vista, plus you get the awesome pizza oven.

I’m not even particularly fussed about Isla Paradiso being laggy, but I would have maybe liked to investigate the diving skill. Having googled, I think you can make custom dive lots though.
  • I'd reccomend these ones:

    - Aurora Skies: Although it isn't huge, this town is very different to the others, in a good way. It has an amazing icelandic feel to it, with the northern lights. The detail and effort into this world is great.

    - Lucky Palms: A great amount of space to play in; versitile with different styles of buildings.

One thing is...I don't think Barnacle Bay is worth the price. Although I love the fact it's an island and I appreciate the effort making this world. There's not enough to make it stand out.
  • I may end up getting Sunlit Tides anyway, if only for the items that come with it, eg the massage table and sauna. I like building resorts for my Sims to own, and they’d be cool additions to any resort! I may also get the Traveler NRAAS mod and use it as a holiday destination.

Sunlit Tides, Is a world I never bought. However I think it definatley looks worth buying.
  • I have an issue with the lighting, I prefer lighting that is similar or the same as Sunset Valley. I found Midnight Hollow to be too dark, and I think maybe Aurora Skies is a bit darkish too. Lucky Palms has this different color/light that tends to be orange if I remember correctly. Monte Vista too. I guess it can fit when you want some medievel vibe.
From this aspect, Barnacle Bay and Hidden Springs were the most convienet for me to play (meaning the most natural lighting as I prefer...)
The CC is also a consideration, I like Aurora Skies' CC the most.

I forgot about Hidden Springs! That world, was one I had and I used it a lot. I agree that it is as well for me an extremley convient and easy world to play in.

However, lighting is the easiest thing to customize. There are countless lighting mods available that shift the lighting of worlds to what you want. For example, I use a variation of this one at the moment.

Unfortunately, I don't know enough of the store worlds to answer the actual thread question in any meaningful way.
  • Roaring Heights is my all time fav! You also get the fixer upper car - which is just awesome. Sells for quite a bit too. The lighting has a soft kind of pink to it.

My second fav would be Lucky Palms or Monte Vista. Hard to choose as they are both so pretty!
  • A lot depends on how you play. I like to start with a single young adult then marry and have kids. As a result, I found Aurora Skies to have the best options for finding a spouse. Monte Vista and Lucky Palms were almost devoid of any romantic options.

Those three are the only ones I have played so far, so I can't comment on the others.
  • I tend to create a couple in CAS, so that’s not such an issue for me!

The thing I was most interested in was the playability, given the tendency for some of the worlds that ship with the various EPs to be laggy. But Lucky Palms and Monte Vista seem to be getting fairly good reviews so that’s useful to know.
