- anthonydyerSeasoned TravelerI can't say this has happened to me, but to this day I will open up sims 3 and find a new surprise. One time I had a maid get stuck in my house and he kept cooking and eating until he got fat.
- There seem to be some minimum number of tasks to take care of that a mid-range performing maid (maybe not the total goof-offs) must take care of. If they just don't have time to get to them all on-screen before their shift is up, the remaining things will clean themselves up automatically as the maid leaves the lot. Dirty dishes fall into that category, from what I've observed so do obviously dirty (not just kind of dirty where you can't see it yet) sinks, bathtubs, showers, kitchen counters, and toilets -- it's really startling to hear all of the toilets in the house flush at the same time when this happens until you get used to it. Not sure, but also maybe piles of garbage on the floor or ground and maybe old newspapers to be discarded, puddles needing to be mopped up.
Beds being made, laundry tended to (which my maids almost never do very completely), leaves being raked, I think maybe stuff like books and toys being put away need to happen on time and through animations or they aren't going to get done at all. - I’ve never actually hired a maid in my game - yeah, you can tell I don’t trust them very much. But I’ve had Sims who have a pool, and the mailman or paper boy/girl shows up to their house, delivers their mail or newspaper, then changes right into their swimwear… then they immediately change back into their uniforms and move off.Spoiler

And I totally misinterpreted that. "TinySpaceFox;c-16425262" wrote:

Maybe i should have said, and now the mailman and repair man are changing clothes before they leave not just the maid? :D- I do have a swimming pool, what extremely wealthy sim doesn't lol ? And yes all my sims i play are extremely wealthy. They have to much to do to have a job interfere with their fun. Maybe the pool is the problem, but i have always had a pool just never noticed this before.

I don't recall seeing them change out of their work clothes when leaving immediately though. That's a new one for me.
That only happens for me when they've first changed into their swimwear. For some reason they change into their everyday clothes when they change out of their swimwear before leaving. The Mail Carrier change to everyday clothes is the most noticeable.
Oh, yeah that happens in my game too. From swimwear to everyday when it's time to leave. But if they leave right after work (like when there's no pool on the lot) they don't change into everyday. Instead they leave the lot in their work uniform.- IreneSwiftSeasoned NewcomerOnce with my singer sim, who had reached level 10 and was raking in the simoleons at her big show venue concerts, besides for having inherited money from a few friends, including at least one very wealthy friend, a burglar came. The police officer apprehended the perpetrator, handcuffed him, and sent him to stand by the car. Then the police officer changed into his swimwear and climbed onto the pool slide, but got off without sliding down, and hauled the burglar off to jail.
Another time, with another singer, in fact, there was a huge mess left after her wedding reception in her backyard, because she had cooked a lot of food, not all of which had been eaten, and there were lots and lots of dirty dishes, and dirty bathrooms. It was very late when all the guests left, so I had the newlyweds go to bed and leave the mess for the morning. In the morning, they called the maid service to come and clean up the mess. Two maids came, and spend almost the entire day there. Even they were gagging and retching as they cleaned up all of the spoiled food and dirty plates. Finally, there was only one bathroom left to clean, but neither maid went there to do the job. They just stood around doing nothing, and finally left without cleaning that bathroom after several sim hours of doing nothing. But the bathroom was now clean.
I finally realized that the reason they didn't go into that bathroom, which was inside the master bedroom, was because I had locked the bedroom door to everyone except the household, so the guests wouldn't go in there to use the computer or TV, and I had forgotten to unlock the door for the maids. LOL! - I've had a cop show up in Storybrook County to bust a burglar in swimwear once in my 100 baby challenge in the summer of 1550.
- polrbear420New SpectatorThe one time I hired a maid she came in and immediately helped herself to my sims' food!
She was fired immediately.
I did, however, notice the post man deliver mail, change into regular clothes, and just walk away a normal person. Surreal. - @polrbear I haven't had a maid in years but, from memory, they all ate when there. Some clean up after themselves, some not.
