Roommates are meant to be NPCs, not Sims that you can control. As you can see in this picture I sent One Sim off to University, and when she arrived all of her Roommates became controllable characters.
I have a few Nraas mods, but I don't see how they could be causing the problem.

Do you have nrass portrait panel?if so ,this happens every time you go to uni with that mod.though they shouldn't really be controllable ,just have their picture there.if you double click one of their pictures it should no nothing at all and you should only be able to control your own sim.if I missed anything @igazor would know more.
