It's not really the same outfit for their entire lives because they do have different outfits for the different life stages but close enough since they spend the longest time in the outfit for YA/Adult. I don't have Seasons installed so don't need to worry about dressing according to season. I don't like to change my sims' main outfit because I keep tabs on everyone in town and can generally recognize everyone, even from great distances, by their clothes.
