When I was having a lot of Code 12 problems with my "legacy" family, I tried deleting items from their household (as I had had them buy things every time they got the wish for it.) I tried deleting things I had saved in CAS. I tried deleting all the cache files and the DBtravel file. I tried moving them to a different neighborhood by putting the family in the library, then putting them in the new neighborhood (which is supposed to really cut down on the size of the file). I made sure that everything was closed on my computer before starting up the game. I made sure that I deactivated the "memory" in the game, and deleted everything from their memory that had already accumulated.
However, none of that worked. I finally got so frustrated about the crashing to desktop and Code 12 (even though I was saving more than just every simday) and not being able to travel that I just started over. It was the only thing that finally worked. The new game has not been a problem.
