I held out so long on getting Sims 4 but finally gave in a while back when the base game was on sale for $5. I like it, graphics are pretty, etc., but you're 100% right that something about it just can't keep me entertained in the same way that Sims 3 can. Gameplay in 4 just feels so tedious. Yeah, maybe 3 took forever to load, but to me it was well worth it since we had open worlds and world editing. The ability to place lots wherever I wanted meant that the game never got old.
