- I used story progression to disallow celebrities in my town since it's a new settlement and the population is too small for that kind of thing.I also disabled some types of celebrity disgrace in story progression under general options.
@igazor -You'd better watch out for that dreadful EA bug-fest which turns games into horrible unplayable nightmares and is labelled under game options as "story progression" because it's so full of bugs and glitches that it will ruin your games. You'll also want to just move your Sims 3 folder out to the desktop and create a new one for Mod-free play to test how glitchy the game is without Mods. You'll have to deal with other issues like glitched UL protests happening in homeowrlds.I've disabled them with Retuner so they don't happen to me unless I start one. - Ugh, the celebrity disgrace crap is probably the worst thing about the celebrity system, in my opinion. My sims do not have time for a 3-day negative moodlet for shit they didn't even do!
- @TadOlson - I do hope you know I wasn't being serious. I would only do that for testing purposes, not for any of my "real" games.
- If you have money just go to the business tower hit pay off paparazzi then the moodlet is gone and it takes a while to get a scandal again, also can sue for slander at city hall plus if you win you make big money and also loose the moodlet.
- Plus nobody is mentioning once you get level 5 celeb status nothing matters after that. You cannot lose level 5 celebrity. It is locked after it happens let them scandal all they want.Craven was seen Woo-hooing a supernatural...yes I did..and it was fantastic.Am always going to be level 5 and will get expensive freebies. :*
- @CravenLestat The freebies and discounts are hands down the best part of celeb status. Also, I'm pretty sure at any level, celeb status never decays. At least that is just what I have observed in my games.
And yeah, I know about the whole city hall thing, but I don't play with cheats so I don't like to spend my sims' hard-earned money on something like that. Plus, again, ain't nobody got time for that when there are gardens to grow, skills to be learned, degrees to be earned and sims to woohoo. So I just let the moodlet sit there and rot away. Lol. - Yupp a scandal loses you celeb skill points just say your bar was at 80 percent, get a scandal then look at it ;) ,also scandals worsen all ALL!!! relationships you have with friends,if you have 15 friends and get a scandal you are fudged with all 15 of them.
- Huh, didn't know that. My sims don't get involved in scandals very often at all, so that is probably why I haven't noticed anything. Good to know. :)

Testingcheats then click on the Sim and set celebrity level to zero, paparazzi are annoying unless you use the celebrity gate system that came with the expansion, has a buzzer to buzz in people.Looks like the entrance to Elvis's Graceland.
I used a recently discovered method on my Sinclair house in Twinbrook.
I locked the back gate to everyone except the household and left the front gates unlocked. But there is short little fencing lining the sidewalk. so no one can enter the yard, unfortunately not even the household. I don't know how many times I watched the paperboy deliver the paper on the front porch and then change into his swimsuit only to end up stomping his foot in frustration cause he couldn't gain access to the backyard pool. Trick-or-treaters gain the front porch and don't make the household come out onto the sidewalk. Guests don't get wet while they wait for you to invite them in. Since none of the doors to the house are locked once guests are invited in they can use the other doors to access the yard, just like the household.
It's not a perfect solution but it functions pretty well.- The Sims does not play by real life rules, the bad celeb is not accepted so Kanye West for example would drop to zero and Sims 3 treats the Sim celeb as a role model which is why you lose friendships with each scandal.
