I'm at my wit's end
I've been trying more or less constantly over the past week or two to get this game to a playable point. There is no reason I shouldn't be able to run a game that came out in 2009 at all max settings....

my question for you is should i upgrade to win 10? will all the mods i want for my new world work with the update?... nraas weather mod, story progression, fx ect ???
Hope you don't mind an answer from someone else. Mods are not dependent on the operating system. If they work for earlier versions of Windows, they will work just the same on Win 10. Other things can go wrong with upgrades of course, but not really this.
hey thanks ! ... well that is great news... i was/am still very hesitant to install windows 10. The world i am revisiting is too important. I want to hear from somebody who has all the mods i am looking for installed on their windows 10 machine. i visited the nrass website and found people had problems with un-updated mods.
I use/have used a bunch of NRaas mods plus a boat load of others, no problems. Like the other guy said, mods have nothing to do with the operating system. If the game works, the mods will too.
When that website says problems with un updated mods, it means the game updates. Make sure you have your game fully patched and read through the documentation of all mods you download to make sure you get the mod that's compatible with your patch level.
If I were you, I'd have other concerns about updating to Windows 10. On my old PC, I had Windows 7 and had all sorts of problems trying to update. Mostly related to graphics drivers. This is a problem a lot of people had. It's different for everyone though. Now that I got a new PC that never had anything other than Windows 10, it's not a bad operating system, and certainly no problems with compatibility/mods/Sims. I'd just be wary about the update process. I had to wipe my PC and reinstall Windows 7 when I had issues with updating before. Honestly if I were you I'd stick with whatever you had before. Unless its Windows 8. I couldn't stand Windows 8 lol
Thank you. Well I am on windows 8.1 and have a great gaming rig. I have had some problems with Win 8 it but have always found ways to resolve them and it has been good the past 6 months or so. if you are running windows 10 and have loads of mods as you claim then that is all i needed to hear. I will update my machine for free once my world is completed. Thank you and have a great weekend!
Glad to help. Happy Simming!"jackjack_k;14567758" wrote:"@xitneverendss;14565314" wrote:"jackjack_k;14564945" wrote:"@xitneverendss;14564929" wrote:"jackjack_k;14564881" wrote:
OP, I'm still playing the Sims 3 Pets on console instead.
Runs amazingly smooth, and has a lot of content from the Store and various EP's already :)
Until EA updates the game, I've tried everything and nothing is working.
OP didn't ask about TS3 pets for console..."igazor;14564067" wrote:
I think the OP's expectations for how smoothly a 2009 game that has been out of development for over two years will run on a higher end 2016 (or something similar) computer and graphics card are a bit high. It should be playable, it's not going to be perfect, and there are going to be tradeoffs and workarounds needed.
^^^this. I've come to terms with the fact that TS3 is never going to run perfectly, but it honestly runs pretty close to that for me so I don't have any problems with if. Like igazor said, there's going to be trade offs and workarounds and I guess you just have to decide if it's worth it to you.
Who said they did? I said that's what I've resorted to, to play.
That's my point exactly though lol. They are asking for advice on their game, THE SIMS 3 and you bring up TS3 Pets on console -___- This does not help the OP at all and I highly doubt they spent $2000 on a rig for a "last resort" which is not even the same game, no matter how many similarities there are."WaxingCrescent05;14565258" wrote:"xitneverendss;14564929" wrote:"jackjack_k;14564881" wrote:

Thing is though, I'm never sure if how my game runs is "normal." I don't get consistent lag, just stutters, mostly when scrolling around. And I watch YouTube Simmers whose games are practically flawless and think: what the plum am I doing differently?
I don't think I've ever seen a YouTube Simmer with a completely flawless game though. They experience occasional lags, stutters, and glitches just like the rest of us.
NRAAS mods are a good starting point. Error Trap, Overwatch, and Mastercontroller will help to improve the stability and performance of your game.
I know he didn't ask about it and I know it's not going to help him, you're reading to much into it. I've said that I've tried everything that they have, and I was at the same position which is why I'm playing on console. Not stating they should do the same.
I'm saying none of the fixes have fixed the issue.
*Her :)
I wouldn't play console Sims (mainly because I don't have any consoles other than a very old PS2 and a Wii) but I totally understand sometimes why you would want to. No tech stuff to worry about, lol. But you'd be missing out on the mods and the great community. I've heard the PS3 Sims 3 is the best. I used to play Sims 2 Pets on PS2 a lot before I got into the PC version, actually. I don't think I could go back to it, but I've never tried the newer ones. How similar is it to the PC version? Just curious.
I had The Sims 3 on Wii and was so disgusted by that trainwreck of a piece of software that I vowed never to touch it again. Went in a dusty box in my closet after about two days of "play." Some things that stick out in my memory about that are not being able to build your own house, everyone in the town dying randomly all the time, glitches out the wazoo, and giving birth to 12 year olds.
