When somebody builds something, do they do it all in one go, or do like the first floor and then decorate it? Also, I start almost every save with a male sim and play legacy style. I love my aliens, but I want something different to try?

When Building ... I do it all in one sitting (I've had practice) :D
I start with the "shell" and thinking about exterior window and a door placement.
Establish proper roof layout.
Landscape the yard and make final decision on overall theme of the lot.
Close in bathrooms (walls and door placement) to accommodate adequate space.
Layout kitchen ... Because it usually becomes the 'busiest' space in the house.
Establish other rooms ... Walls and door placement.
Add floors and ceilings ... Complete to design ideas.
Add furniture strictly in regard to space allocation.
Recolor, texture, decorate and accessorize ... Turnkey and Move In.
Depending on the size of the lot ... Takes me about 2-3 hours.
