Laptop type: Asus Model Type:X555LOS:Windows 10 ProGPU:Nvidia Geforce 930M(memory:6040)CPU:Intel Core i5 (2.5GHz)RAM:16GB DDR3Storage:250 GB SSD+500GB External HDDI am thinking of investing about 1500€ on a tower+monitor this year so this laptop is only temporary but I still gotta keep it for a while since I am a computer sciences student which really doesn't allow me to have a job right now since it's quite demanding.I already have installed everything, but based on the game preformance I am thinking that I should probably resort to a smaller number of packs with this laptop but I still would like your input. I have some preformance settings as medium and some as low. I have fixed the files to recognize my cards and followed the steps from this thread https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1131162350Build mode is smooth, pause mode is smooth, speed 1 is quite smooth with the occasional lag spike which lasts about 2secs, and speed 3 & 4 are just lag galore. Anyway to fix this lag on these speeds or should I just resort to lesser exp. packs and no stuff packs and if so how many packs should I keep. Also only have below 1GB worth of mods and cc (I merge cc and I avoid what ik I should), including many of the nrass mods which from the top of my head are: overwatch, errortrap, debugenabler, control panel, mover, master controller, woohoer, mover, the sim books at library one and I think that's all. It also keeps saying I have an outdated modifier and it might affect my game and all I have is the nraas mods, I checked and literally all of them are the correct version (1.67). Any help and input is greatly appreciated!

For the mods error message, what kind of install is this? ErrorTrap has different versions for 1.67/disc, 1.67/Steam, and 1.69/Origin installs; getting the wrong one can throw the mismatch error. If you're not sure which one you have, just trash it and download the correct one. Also, if you have Showtime, install NRaas Traffic. The career performance limos can spawn by the thousands every day, which will slow down the game long before Overwatch has a chance to clean them up at night.Most of the tips in the Steam thread you linked are either fine or neutral, but step 4 can cause problems. Sims 3 is already large address aware and has been since 2010. The value in the screenshot is for the script heap limit, and it's 20 GB, not 2. If you've made this change, please undo it.Whether step 4.5 is a good idea depends on your exact CPU. The rating determines the load on the processor in some ways, and yours might not be able to keep up. I can't tell by the specs you listed which one you have, but, for example, an i5-7300HQ can probably handle being rated as uber, whereas an i5-7200U probably can't. So it's probably better to undo this change, see if you can get the game to run well, then maybe bump the rating up one notch and see how it goes.Of course, the bigger issue is the GPU, and yours probably can't handle the most demanding packs (Pets, then Seasons, then Island Paradise and Into the Future) very well. Some people with similar cards can run one or two of those, some can run everything except Pets, some can't run any. So you'll need to experiment with this as well.Since you used the Steam guide, I take it you've confirmed that your in-game fps is locked at 60. But if not, that will help performance by a significant amount.Not having any idea what custom content you've installed, I can't say whether that's having an effect. But you might want to test with no cc at all, and only NRaas mods, to make sure the lag is unrelated. Even one bad cc item can cause lag under the right circumstances.The other point is that some worlds, both EA- and custom-made, cause lag on any machine. (Isla Paradiso is the worst offender.) Test in Sunset Valley, Riverview, or Twinbrook (first without cc, then with) to establish a baseline for performance, and figure out how many packs you can run and whether you can force-rate your CPU higher than the game wants. Then you'll have a better idea of what your laptop can handle. If you really miss a pack that your system can't seem to handle, it might help to instead play in smaller worlds; there are a number of custom ones that are well-made and beautiful. You can ask in the general discussion section for recommendations.If you still get lag after uninstalling all four demanding packs, removing all cc, and playing in one of the gentle EA-made worlds, you might have a system issue. You can run a dxdiag, post it at pastebin.com or some other free filesharing site, and link it here.https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/pc/how-to-gather-dxdiag-information/Once you have a general idea of how your game runs, it's easy to adjust or respond to changes. There are so many reasons Sims 3 can lag, stutter, crash, or otherwise not run properly, it can take some time to sort things out. But as long as your laptop isn't overheating, and your fps isn't running out of control, the game shouldn't cause any damage to your system.

Just to add to the excellent advice being given above, I wouldn't count on poor performance on Speeds 3 and 4 as a valuable metric. While I agree that the GPU is your weak spot, this can happen on stronger hardware as well and is often a symptom of the game engine tripping over itself just as easily as anything else. It is possible that reducing the load (the EPs) in this case may not make a dramatic difference.Personally I wouldn't attempt my own expansive play style on a 930M with Pets and Seasons as part of the mix. But if you can get and maintain acceptable game performance on all EPs except for when running the game at higher speeds, then you are already ahead of the curve there.

it runs decent. Tried Twinbrook. Same with or without cc (Slightly better lag spike wise but what is it with people going in the ground). Fixed the error. It was errortrap. Also changed the 40GB back to 20GB. My CPU is the i5-7200U so also edited those. I guess I would like trying in a smaller world before actually deciding whether to keep this or just wait till I have a desktop since I also have ts2 which I've been playing for the past 2 years. I don't really wanna kill this pc because frankly I've made it run some stuff it shouldn't be able to(thanks to freezing temps where I keep the laptop which don't really let it overheat). Quite frankly between when I first booted the game with no mods and no steps from that steam thread and now, it runs better now. Before doing this my sim would stand there forever but now she doesn't thankfully because that was driving me nuts. But as I said I'll probably upgrade soon enough so I can manage with whatever option I guess.Well thank you for the help, I really appreciate it! This laptop has much better hardware for Sims 3 than the previous one you mentioned. The Nvidia 1050 regular (not ti) may or may not quite maintain ultra settings, depending in part on your style of play, what world(s) your sims are in, and what you consider good framerates. But it should still run the entire game (all packs included) on at least a mix of high and ultra settings. The amount of VRAM isn't really relevant, as Sims 3 is programmed to use a max of 800 MB, but of course it's nice to have for other purposes, including maybe other games.When you do get the laptop, be sure to manually cap the framerates. Well I just followed the guide for where you first add the card name to the VideoCards file, open up the game, close it, and the next part is that with the code on graphics rules. I can see the vendor but there are four if statements and I simply don't know in which if statement the GTX 1050 goes and how I should write it(gtx 1???)? I've done this a lot with the sims 2 and twice with the sims 3 but I just don't know in which section of that part to put it. How else do I get my card recognised, tbh I just wanna get it over with and save both the graphicsrules and videocards files alongside their originals in the external HDD. I really don't wanna play the game without finishing this since I don't ever wanna touch these again. I remember the last time I did this I found a graphicsrules file on the internet that had all the newer cards and just added that but I do not have and cannot find that again. I really wouldn't ask for help if I knew in what part my card goes. Please help me with this since I really wanna start playing the game.

EDIT: I forgot to say thank u about the link cause that is edactly what I followed and I made a mix of both your settings while making my rotational play.

I take it you've added the 1050 to graphicscards.sgr and confirmed it was done correctly? (You'd know when you saw a value next to the card's name in deviceconfig.log.) If so, open graphicsrules.sgr, ctrl-F to search for 8800, and you'll see this:

elseif (match("${cardName}", "*8800*") or match("${cardName}", "*9500*") etc.

(this is the start of the list of Nvidia cards rated uber by the game)

change the 8800 to GTX 1050, assuming you named your card something like GeForce GTX 1050. Don't touch the rest of the punctuation, not even the asterisks. Save, quit, launch the game to test, and you should now see a in deviceconfig.

To make the game recognize your VRAM, look for these lines, right at the top of graphicsrules.sgr:

if ($textureMemory == 0)
seti textureMemory 32
setb textureMemorySizeOK false

Change the 32 to a 1024 and put a # and a space immediately in front of setb; save, quit, launch the game, and check the texture memory value in deviceconfig. The value is listed below the other info about your graphics card, and texture memory should now be 1024 MB.

Ok hi guys! I keep coming here cause again I feel it's pointless making new posts for this.

I've got the game all good, capped fps(tested ingame with cheat, first it was going haywire but I fixed it after). It is mostly smooth with the occasional lag but the biggest annoyance to me, screen teraing. Vsync is on, so what else do I do to get rid of that annoying line whenever I move my camera. Thanks in advance!

I recently started playing the sims 3 again. I had that tear line and a few dodgy graphics when I first started playing. Next time I loaded the game the issues had gone. I assumed my laptop adjusted itself to the game but had to restart the game as you often have to to make any changes take effect. Hope this helps and you can enjoy the game :)

I really hope so since I really wanna be able to enjoy the game, cause even tho 3years ago I had only late-night and a very laggy game I still enjoyed the game enohgh to put a bunch of hours in.
